Boats for Indian navy undergo sea trials off Colombo

The company manufacturing these patrol boats is Dubai based so may be it is in line with our policy of closer ties with GCC and may be due to increased co-operation we can see high value targets are falling like flies.

Anyway the total value of this tender is not very high and it's small price for not having Chinese bases in SL.

The SBS and the RASB played a vital role in depriving the LTTE access to the sea during the last few months of Eelam War IV.According to the Indian media, Sagar Prahari Bal would be responsible for the deployment of FIC to protect the coast.

Im wondering why no one is taking this point into consideration,It not about the production capability of Indian Ship yards, its all about how robust and battle proven platform.

This is what wiki says

The Indian ministry of defence (MOD) on 22 May 2009 sent out request for proposal (RfP) to 43 shipyards in India and other countries for 80 FICs. After the bids were submitted by the contenders, they were evaluated by the technical evaluation committee (TEC). Thereafter Sri Lankan shipyard Solas Marine was shortlisted for supply of the 80 boats. A deal worth INR300 crore (US$46 million) for the same was signed in the last week of September 2011. As per the agreement, the 80 boats were to be supplied in batches of 15 and the induction of first batch was to take place within 36 months from the signing of the contract

That has just become an excuse now, peddled by the arms lobby. With this defeatist mentality we ll get no where.

Yeah of course, but when we take into account the future procurement, the expertise and skills it would have built and the employment it would have a created in India, paying a bit more for an Indian product wouldn't have been such a bad idea, specially if you take the depreciating rupee into account.

No doubt in my mind you are a hardcore patriot.
