Featured BNF’s leader Abdul Hameed Khan renounces his separatist ideology, returns to Gilgit

A bit of back ground to this story:

There is still an element of surprise as to how and why Abdul Hameed Khan, the leader of the ultra-nationalist Balawaristan National Front (BNF) operating in Gilgit-Baltistan, decided to surrender to the Pakistani authorities on February 8 after carrying out anti-Pakistan activities for 20 long years based in India and Belgium.

Unnamed sources were quoted as saying in the news items published in sections of the Pakistani media recently that Pakistan’s intelligence agencies in a major breakthrough had successfully busted the saboteur network, BNF-Hameed, funded by the Indian spy agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). Islamabad has been alleging that India by using its proxies was trying to fuel terrorism to destabilise Pakistan. Balochistan is mentioned in particular as the focus of India’s attention. As an evidence, the arrest of the serving Indian Navy Commander Kulbushan Jadav during a counter-intelligence operation in March 2016 in Balochistan is repeatedly highlighted by Pakistan.

However, Islamabad has also alleged that RAW is behind acts of sabotage elsewhere in Pakistan, including Karachi, erstwhile Fata and Gilgit-Baltistan, earlier known as Northern Areas. Islamabad has been claiming that India in collaboration with the Afghan intelligence agency, National Directorate of Security (NDS), is using Afghanistan’s soil to destabilise Pakistan by offering support to Baloch separatists, the secular nationalist Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and others.

In context of Gilgit-Baltistan, the increased Indian interest in the largely mountainous region is understandable considering the fact that New Delhi has publicly opposed the multi-billion dollar China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). India has been arguing that the CPEC, the flagship project of China’s massive Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) that starts from Kashgar in China’s Xinjiang province and enters the neighbouring Gilgit-Baltistan region on the way to Gwadar on the Arabian Sea, is a disputed territory as it is historically a part of Jammu & Kashmir.

The details of the intelligence-based operation, “Operation Pursuit” that tracked down the BNF-H have not been shared with the media, but it must have been quite elaborate because Abdul Hameed Khan was living abroad and getting him to return to Pakistan from Brussels, Belgium and unconditionally surrender would have needed time and effort. The terms of his surrender aren’t known, though many political workers in Gilgit-Baltistan are speculating that Abdul Hameed Khan could eventually enter electoral politics in case he pledges loyalty to Pakistan and is given amnesty. That cannot be an easy decision for the state in view of his past during which he allegedly played in the hands of RAW and ran a campaign from India and Belgium to malign Pakistan for denying the rights of people of Gilgit-Baltistan and committing human rights violations.

RAW network busted in GB
Weapons, ammunition recovered during IBO, Rs1 billion support was provided by RAW for the activities of BNF(H) in GB including sponsoring GB students in various parts of country”

Islamabad - Security forces have successfully busted local chapter of Balwaristan National Front (Hameed Group) Gilgit Baltistan, a network of Indian Intelligence Agency RAW to carry out terrorism and subversion.

According to details, the local chapter of BNF(H) was busted in an intelligence-based operation carrying out subversion by publishing material through a magazine ”Balawaristan Times”. Huge quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered during IBO. As a result of the activists of BNF were also apprehended.

Sub Nationalist (SN) Organisation Balwaristan National Front (Hameed Gp) BNF(H) GB was cultivated on the behest of Indian intelligence agency RAW and tried terrorism and subversion by targeting “Youth” in GB and various universities of Pakistan.

Chairman BNF(H) Abdul Hameed Khan (AHK) of Ghizer spotted by RAW was taken to Nepal in 1999 and then shifted to India where he was handled by RAW’s agents, Col Arjun and Joshi. He was kept at three star apartments at Delhi.

Pakistan is playing india like a kid, most of those indian assets in balochistan and GB are double agents. For many years these double agents been taking money and giving assurances to india of doing their work while in reality they were sitting with ISI and coordinating and cooperating every move.
I heard a story of a guy in Afghanistan, linked with taliban who took millions of dollars from India for attacking Pakistan and actually used that money against US and NATO and even against an indian consulte.

Recently, the news broke out that Gilgit Baltistan anti-state leader Abdul Hameed Khan came back to Pakistan after a 23-year-old exile. He claimed that the Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) paid him £25k per month to cause unrest in the region of GB. However, he spent that money on education instead.

good move!

every Pakistani should make false promises to RAW... take their money and screw them....

.
I would say the reason is very simple.

1. The Balwaristan national party is a party that neither supports India nor Pakistan and has always maintained that both India and Pakistan should leave Gilgit Baltistan and Ladakh respectively and they were also against the Karachi Agreement citing the absence of a Gilgit Baltistan representative in that meeting. In 2009 Pakistan started to provide more autonomous structure for Gilgit Baltistan region and the region witnessed adult franchise elections where they could form government in 2009. The Balwaristan party discovered their limitations when they tried to get elected and failed to secure a single seat out of the 33 seats. The reason behind it was that their ground work was non-existent. No matter what every organization has to serve the people to be liked by the people. Empty rhetoric of freedom does not answer the woes of the people and in this manner, other parties that were based their had formed far stronger traction with the populace and their leaders. So the first problem that the party faced was the newly trickled down autonomy by Pakistan and while Pakistan was no saint when it came to Gilgit Baltistan, but what did the BNF do for the people of Gilgit Baltistan in contrast to other parties and organizations? @WAJsal can answer that better

2. Is the fact that in 1999 hamid khan was in exile and the party in Gilgit Baltistan was struggling and was again witnessed in 2009. Rather than coming back and rejuvenating the party, he did nothing and here the other party head Nawaz Khan Naji was left to make some serious reforms in the party and he worked on it and in a very contested district of Ghizer won the by-election in 2011 and then the election in 2015. It must be stated that due to their rift BNF is home to two groups. One led by Nawaz and one led by Hameed and the former has basically secured the political power in Ghizer at the expense of the latter and the latter is coming to realize that.

Ghizer is slowly becoming the political position for Nawaz whereas hameed is disappearing from the stage and from the party and he did not ignore that fact that nawaz won in 2011 and 2015 from Ghizer and as such took the oath where he promised to be loyal to pakistan and is consolidating his politics there. Hameed is left ignored and he is also realizing that independence doesnt have the traction in gilgit baltistan and whilst rights and autonomy are the major issue that are present over there, asking for rights and asking for separation are two different concepts. With failed networks that simply werent growing and a waning political career, it was clear that he had two choices. Die in exile or try to carve some political sphere with Pakistan

I know a story of a guy in Afghanistan, linked with taliban who took millions of dollars from India for attacking Pakistan and actually used that money against US and NATO and even against an indian consulte.

Looking at terrorism in Pakistan, I'd say India did doing quite well overall. Especially in 2009-2015. Also I doubt this guy claims, its more likely India stopped paying because he didn't get desired results. Unlike in Balochistan for example.

by this you can understand the ethnic situation in Karachi, it means india interfering in Pakistan through Iran...

Once a traitor always a traitor, put him down like a sick dog. Once a person sells his mother what's stopping him doing it again and he is no hero for us that we can celebrate his return. We have got history littered with Imman sellers who stabbed us multiple times after repenting so no more. I can be made fooled once but not again and again and he have lost the trust once which can't be earned back as its matter of our freedom and not to be messed about. :pakistan:

I do not understand Pakistan's policies.
Despite so much evidence available of the crimes and terror activities of India.
Sponsoring, training, financing and facilitating terror activities and terrorists both in India and in Afghanistan.
Why Pakistan fails to spread these facts in the world and notify world agencies , pressurising them to act against India.

. .
Damn I have some expansive educational programs on my list, how do I get the funding from RAW? :D

Pakistan should not only pardon him,but protect, support, embrace & respect his right decision, better late than never. This is clear proof how Indian spy agency RAW is instigating Balloch youth against Pakistan.Pakistan should raise this in UNSC provide a memorandum against India. Now who is terrorist state.im from Srinagar capital city of Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir.still we have about 7000 youth who are disappeared.most of them are married.they don't have any proof of their husbands where they are dead or alive, only proof they got is that Indian army arrested them then denied there where snouts.in 2016 I wrote about it & later made a documentary called "HALF WIDOWS",it was very well received & appreciated, unfortunately it is banned in India. You can watch it in you tube from any country except India.why I'm quoting this, the reason for it is how India is crushing kashmiris by all the atrocities human being is known of.Even in some cases they crossed the human limitation & did many things which are crimes against humanity.

GILGIT: A nationalist leader and head of a banned organisation has announced abandoning his movement, and offered an apology to people of Gilgit-Baltistan over his anti-state activities.

Talking to journalists in Gilgit the other day, Abdul Hameed Khan, head of banned Balawaristan National Front (BNF), said Pakistan was protector of GB people’s rights, and that Indian spy agency RAW was trying to create instability in the region.

“During my exile, 25,000 Euros was paid to me monthly by RAW to create unrest and instability in Gilgit-Baltistan. However, I used the money to support students by paying their tuition fees, and other needy people,” said Mr Hameed, who ended his 23-year-old foreign exile and returned to GB.

He said he was misled, and played into the hands of the enemy.
