'Blue girl': Iran's football fan, denied stadium entry, dies

But it's a sexist law. You're restricting based on gender. Also female matches aren't that famous or popular, so it isn't a fair comparison.

It’s not sexist when it goes both ways. Men arent allowed into women’s locker rooms, is that sexist? It becomes sexist and discriminatory if they say “men can watch women’s games, but women can’t watch men’s games”

It's sexist because women watching men's game is something completely normal while women or men going into each others' locker rooms is not.

And does Iran even have women matches. I don't think so tbh. And like I said, if isn't a fair comparison, football played by men is times upon times more popular.

Typical misogynistic person. She did nothing wrong. She should have been allowed to watch the match. This is nothing but pure radicalism.

Apparently "pure radicalism" can mean anything now. I remember when "pure radicalism" was terrorism. Nowadays "pure radicalism" can apparently mean having a beard, praying, believing in God or criticizing Israel. Eating a cookie is "pure radicalism" now. Not eating a cookie is another form of "pure radicalism".

If anyone reading this is breathing at the moment, please be aware that breathing is a form of "pure radicalism". Not breathing is also "pure radicalism".

The woman was denied entry into stadium to watch a match, then arrested, and tortured her! The police then threatened her family with consequences. She set herself on fire then.

If you can't show empathy for that then I can't understand. You learned everything except humanity.

Interesting how this "humanity" you speak of just happens to suit a Zionist agenda.

It’s not normal in Iran dude. Things are different there. We do have a women’s national team. If it is sexist, why are there absolutely 0 coverage about men not being allowed to watch women's matches?

Definition of sexist:

characterized by or showing prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex.

So in Iran they say women can’t watch men’s matches, and likewise men can’t watch women’s matches.

According to definition, for something to be sexist it needs to fulfill at least one of the criteria above. Since it goes both ways, it’s not a sexist law.

A sexist law would be:

1. Women can’t watch soccer because women have no business playing soccer, meanwhile men can play.

2. Women can’t watch men’s games because they are women, but men can watch women’s games because they are men.

It’s not sexist when you divide the genders equally.

What's gonna happen with news like this:

1.) Anti-Islam will focus on it and take it as opportunity to bash Islam

2.) Pro-Iran fanatics will defend Iran at all costs.

...
...

The reality is media pick and choose what they want to go viral. And all media have an agenda. Al Jazeera is one of better ones for those that want news on the Arab/Muslim world. The rest of media outlets all have an agenda for the ME, like the Iranian, British and American media.

So people should approach every kind of news without an bias and give their honest opinion.
It was not a religious issue..but some people turned it into one. A girl got denied an entry into a stadium and she got allegedly beaten up by some police officer and she sets herself on fire and commits suicide.

Now, being denied an entry into a stadium is sad but not a good reason to commit suicide
And if she was beaten up by some police officer then it must be investigated and that guy should be punished if found guilty as there was no need to do that. But still she should not have committed suicide rather fought against the injustice.

BTW, now I come to know that it was forbidden in Iran for women enter stadium during men's sport events / matches and vice-versa so it means it was illegal for her do that in first place..whether good or bad, it is the law of the land and she should have either followed or tried to change it through her vote.

Absolutely ludicrous from Iran. Allow females to watch matches and support your nation! Why is this even an issue? If hijab is required, fine. If segregation is required, fine. But to ban them from supporting your national team is pretty dumb.

If the equivalent law applies to men, I agree it isn't "sexist".... But it's still pretty self-defeating.

Is the issue that neither gender can see the opposite gender in sports attire? I would have assumed that women can still see men in shorts t-shirt and socks but if strict Islamic rules are applied, it would be men who should remain barred from girls games

I think you should move to Iran or some Islamic country. As far as you can from here. A hardline apologist like you does not belong in the west. Take your fascist Islamists with you they have destroyed England and the reputation of decent hard working Pakistanis with terrorism and paedophilia.

I hope we can introduce an ideological test on people like these similar to what PA have done with TTP captives. Wean out the radicalists anti western fascist ones back to ummah land.

I think you should set yourself on fire in front of Iranian embassy in London to show your solidarity with her.

Very stupid (unwritten) law.. women are able to see world cup on TV, but they can't attend the games in stadiums???!! Same for hijab law... Forcing women to wear the veil. These radical laws only divide the Iranian society in opposing sides and are fuel for zionist propaganda against Iran. Only very stupid and stubborn people support such measures.

It is kind of suppressive law but that's what Iranian want but you cannot expect it in Pakistan.

Short answer I have a belief in God but believe monotheistic teachings are corrupted by man which includes Islam. Hadith is an abomination and I have gone through authentic and so called unauthentic. The message is pure. There is a longer answer for another thread maybe.

The bashing fundamentlist Islamic thought gets is justified and it will become more intense as time goes on. This is the natural course.

It's a yes or no question, are you a muslim or not?

Also, do you originate from a qadiani family as that other user said?

It's what the regime there wants. Not the Iranians.

And this isn't about Zionist agenda or anything. Reason I turned it into a religious debate is because the law responsible is religiously motivated. The protection of these officers is also religiously motivated under the cloak of "maintaining moral norms in public."

Recall Taliban's moral police. Saudi Arabia has it and so does Iran. Their job? To punish in public if a social norm is broken.

I think the problem here is that some users have a severe inferiority complex. They praise the west for everything under the sun and then attack islamic nations for anything which doesn't suit their western outlook. I'm not trying to be harsh but that is exactly it. There is really not much difference between the words of some users here and the words of anti-Muslim/Islam people in the west.

Islamic nations are certainly far from perfect. But changing laws rooted in Islam to laws rooted in western thought is just a pathway to creating a bigger problem.

Iran is a democracy so they can change this law if they want but it seems the majority is okay with it. It is not one of the fundamental rights, plus women can watch the game on TV in homes... I myself prefer watching games on TV. A lot of pushing and vulgar slurs are thrown during a game and perhaps for this reason Iranians want to protect their women. I know they really treat their women in a good way since I have some Iranian colleagues and they are always taking care of their women like they are some princesses.
