Blast in Peshawar

Since you are in the US, studying US society to determine whether this dynamic is 'self-hypnosis' or 'deflection' on the part of Americans would be appropriate-
Certainly I think it's appropriate when applied to the U.S. Yet our institutions and politicians do not currently suffer from nearly the same degree of corruption that Pakistan does, so I wonder if Pakistan's problem is even worse.

.
Not just "corruption"; the U.S. doesn't have the faceless attacks Pakistan is afflicted with:

"The exterior smile is a deception; it's the only coping mechanism the child has," Dr. Rizwan Taj, a psychiatrist in Islamabad, says. "The child needs counseling, protection, and they are not getting that."

The children simply don't understand why their little world has been affected. The problem is, Rizwan explains, the parents can barely cope with the paralyzing fear that defines their lives.

"The confusion isn't just for the children. It's for the adults, as well. The confusion for the adults as to why this is happening, why is this happening repeatedly, it trickles down to the children," Rizwan says. And as those emotions intensify, people look for scapegoats.

But in Pakistan's case it is not the politicians driving the message being referred to, but rather the media.

For example the politicians are denying that Balckwater is operating in Pakistan (which could only be half true since it is now called Xe or US training Centers or a multitude of other names that are 'Xe' subsidiaries), and they are denying any agreement on drone attacks in FATA, but many in the media refuse to believe either the US or GoP denials on the issue.

The US also did not have to face such state sponsored terrorism as Pakistan did in East Pakistan in 1971 or in the earlier Baluch insurgencies, or at the hands of the Afghan and Soviet secret services during the seventies and eighties.

A past precedent of India and the Afghans supporting 'faceless' terrorism in Pakistan is what makes their support in the current mayhem plausible for many.

Yeah kind of used to the booms now :), all TV channels quiet, not a single line in the news strip.

Except I'm not sure I believe those either. I think Indian support for terror vanished even before Indira's departure, and I'm ignorant of any past effort by Afghans to subvert the state of Pakistan by using terror.

India had to repent what it did in Sri Lanka. US had to repent what it did in Afghanistan in late 80's

Pakistan is now repenting what it did in Afghanistan in 90's to gain strategic depth.

As simple as that.

The Indians themselves make no bones about their support for rebel groups in East Pakistan that engaged in attacks on non-combatants, even before Operation Searchlight.

And Indian analysts have admitted that it was under IK Gujral that India chose to disengage from Baluchistan - that does not mean they did not reengage later, but it does mean that they were engaged, at the least, before IK Gujral's decision.

On Afghan intervention - Khad and the KGB were involved in bombings in Peshawar during the Soviet occupation. The Afghans in fact gave sanctuary to the Baluch separatists during the first Baluch insurgencies, and are accused of doing so even now. The Afghans also tried to spark a separatist revolt in the Pashtun areas of Pakistan in the sixties or seventies.

But anyway, we are going off topic. I just wanted to point out that Pakistani opinion on blaming external actors is not that dissimilar from Indian and American opinion.

What's blast has to do with Muharram Emo?shade some light on your statement please?

Allah o Akbar ... RIP those who die .... very sad news Wallah ...

Moharram is notorious for past shia sunni conflict in pakistan. Given the prevailing turbulant situation in pakistan and the spur in terrorists activities, This period of moharram assumes significant security concern. Hope we wont be seeing any bloodshed anymore.

Do you agree with the CNN article, that for now it is more like scapegoating to blame India rather than the declared enemies who shelter near or within Peshawar itself?
