Pak Minister sees RAW hand in Lahore attack

A Pakistani Provincial Minister on Monday alleged that India’s RAW was involved in the suspected suicide car bomb attack in Lahore, even as federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik claimed “signatures of India” were there in weapons seized from militants in the tribal areas.

Punjab Province Law Minister Rana Sanaullah alleged that India’s Research and Analysis Wing intelligence agency was involved in Monday’s suspected suicide car bomb attack on a special investigation unit that killed 12 people.

“Besides other neighbouring countries, India’s RAW agency is also involved. Israel and other countries could also be involved,” he told reporters in Lahore.

At the same time, Mr. Sanaullah claimed militants against whom Pakistani security forces were conducting operations in the Waziristan tribal region were behind the terrorist attacks.

He claimed these militants were being backed by “foreign hands”.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Malik identified India as the “foreign hand” behind several attacks in Pakistan.

Asked by reporters to identify the “foreign hand” behind the attacks, Mr. Malik said: “I have identified it several times. All the weapons are coming from Afghanistan. The signatures of India are very much there in weapons seized in (Pakistan’s) tribal areas.”

Mr. Malik said Pakistan would present “evidence” of India’s alleged involvement in the attacks whenever talks are held between the two sides.

“We have compiled the reports and evidence and whenever India sits for talks, we will raise this issue. We have also raised it several times and will continue raising it.

“That’s why we say India should come to the negotiating table and both sides can present their reservations and proof,” he added.

Mr. Sanaullah was in news recently for meeting and travelling with leaders of the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba terror group while campaigning for by-polls in Jhang district of Punjab.

PAKISTAN - 8 MARCH 2010

Pakistani Taliban's main umbrella faction, Tehreek-e-Taliban claims responsibility for the Lahore blast

LAHORE: A spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban's main umbrella faction, Tehreek-e-Taliban, claimed the group was responsible Monday for a suicide blast that killed 12 people in Lahore.

“We claim responsibility for the Lahore blast. We will continue such attacks in future,” Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Azam Tariq told two AFP reporters in telephone calls from an undisclosed location.

“The attack was to avenge (US) drone attacks and (Pakistani) military operations in the tribal areas. We will carry on such attacks as long as drone strikes and operations continue.”

A car bomb explosion killed 12 people and injured 81 others near the FIA and the Special Investigative Agency buildings in Model Town, Lahore on Monday.

“Eleven people have been killed and several others injured in a suicide car bombing, which took place near the FIA and the Special Investigative Agency buildings in Lahore,” the commissioner of Lahore said.

Latest reports state that the Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the target was the Special Investigative Agency and not the FIA building.

Earlier Division Commissioner Khusro Pervaiz said 61 people had been injured, 11 of the injured are said to be in critical condition, DawnNews reported.

Eight of the dead were women.

The DCO of Lahore and the Inspector General of Punjab, Tariq Azeem have both confirmed that an explosive laden rammed into the Investigation Agency's building.

Witnesses said that the FIA has completely collapsed and a number of people are still buried under the rubble.

The DCO added that around 70 people were present at the FIA building at the time of the explosion.

He also confirmed that around 600 kilograms of explosives were used in this attack. The police said that the massive explosion has managed to create an 8 foot deep crater.

Meanwhile, medical officials have urged residents of Lahore to come fourth and donate blood to help treat the injured.

Security has been placed on high alert across the entire city.

The blast rocked Lahore early this morning and witnesses say that smoke billowing from the explosion could be seen for miles.

Please study the words of these so called "Mujahideen" and compare them to any Islamic history book available in a public library and see if innocent civilians were deliberately targeted for revenge.

So what is the cure then, now that we know they are criminals who target civilians for revenge? I think a good start would be to indeed remove US drone strikes from Pakistan. Use the few weeks after the historic decision to regroup, lure all the Talibs out, and rock them with incendiary from JF-17 squadrons, whom I believe due to geo-politics and WoT have had their production capabilities increased to war time levels, so I would say almost 3 squadrons a year.

very sorry to hear that. If i am not wrong this blast took place after many weeks. We are hearing less news now about bomb blasts from Pakistan. Thats a good sign

Rest in Peace

Bloody TTP is out there well and alive with the capability of carrying all kind of attacks everywhere. God save us from TTP and AT evil.

true, i dont have any proof that RAW is behind this..but indians dont need to ask the reasons.. everything is pretty evident. pakistan wont blow itself now, would it? 600 kg explosives, unless their are defence manufacturing factories like HIT in north or south wazristan (which is obviously not) or they just discovered the 600 kg explosives from under the ground, given the massive indian presence in afghanistan and the sentiments your army general has for us, it is hard to believe anyone else could have done this..

Do we need to remind you that you are part and parcel of WOT and you have a dedicated enemy you are fighting against?

Agar India ko kisi ko marna hi hota to apnay targets ko marta jinko woh claim karta rha hai ki woh India main terrorism main involved hain. I would advise you guys to get over with your obsession of RAW and India...

Anyways its bad to see people dying anywhere whether in India or in Afghanistan or in Pakistan.. May their soul RIP..
