Black Night Challenger 2 upgrade

.
Weak armor?

"During the 2003 Iraq War, one Challenger 2 sustained multiple direct RPG hits* and a MILAN anti-tank missile but survived and returned to service several hours later." - Soldier of Fortune

*14 in total.

American M1 Abrams series have Depleted Uranium mesh for enhanced protection (not for export). British Challenger 2 have Dorchester armor mesh for enhanced protection (not for export).

There is one documented incident of an RPG-29 penetrating a Challenger 2 but the British have plugged relevant soft spots with Streetfighter armor enhancement subsequently.

Outdated gun?

"During the offensive one, Challenger finally laid to rest the doubts anyone had over the capability of the type with a single shot. That shot was made over a staggering range of 5,100m (3 miles) with a Depleted Uranium (DU) round – the longest confirmed tank kill in history!" - Spec Ops Magazine

Rifled gun does have its cons, but the British have done a good job with the rifled gun of Challenger 2.

I hold you in high regard due to your good nature, exposure and knowledge, but I would disagree with your view about this MBT.

I would say that the Challenger 2 is underrated. The Black Knight upgrade suite will uplift this already formidable MBT to latest standards.

All these 14 stories are nothing but fairy tales. Chally 2 hull is directly inherited from Chieftain. They just added composite armor to sides of upper glacis. But lower glacis and center of upper glacis remain simple homogeneous armor.

Also the drivers visibility is very poor because of added side armor.

No one uses rifled guns. Its also very long and easily hits everything.

You mean MI? Mechanised Infantry.. best of both worlds.

Yeah, Mech Infantry, we call them cavalryman over in the US, because some Mechanized Infantry are converted into Air Mobile or Air Assault unit and we don't want to make it a confusing situation. We call the Air Assault guy Air Mobile.

And Bradley is indeed the best of both worlds.

Yeah they are quite redundant now given accuracy of smoothbore these days....but I still quite like them...they remind me of the legacy of the great tank era.

Depends. With modern tech, the rifled gun is basically outdated. But then rifled gun have one thing that have edge over smoothbore gun, that rifled gun would never have a breech stoppage like smoothbore gun does.

Because you either have initial momentum and the projectile is ejected out of the barrel, with the rifle spinning. Or you don't (a total dead round) and you can simply remove from the round from the base of the Breech.

With smoothbore, a slow burning primer round would just get stuck in the middle of the barrel and it's quite awkward to remove them.

Thats interesting. What is the breech stoppage rate like (% of total firings) in modern western smoothbores would you say?

Not that often, but not as rare as you may think.

A breech stoppage can occur in many given factors, from incremental weather to unsafe handling of a round to manufacturer default.

Usually it won't happened, but sometime it just does.

You been exposed as a hot air writing nonsense.

Exactly how dumb are you?

You are the one that give irrelevant information and have been avoiding my challenge over in that thread.

You remember pulling up this post on the mobile phone thread and when you are challenged you said "Don't derail the Mobile Phone thread"

https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/huaw...hy-system-and-4000-mah-battery.550629/page-12

People here have a brain you know? Unlike in other section, they can see and judge a post by its merit, what you are doing here is basically strengthen my reputation, and weaken your own. If you even have half a brain, you should have known.

Beside, what exactly do you know about Challenger 2 and Rifled Gun? So bring up these topic here on a totally unrelated thread mean you are really desperate, and well, it make you stupid.

LOL :D:D:dance3::dance3::omghaha:
