Black men arrested for just sitting at Starbucks

Starbucks sources from Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Latin America

And what price? Do you know every area or villages have their own taste in terms of beans; the coffee board sources coffee over a year ahead and blends it before exporting.

It is ridiculous the price you pay for starbuck name; a good Yiggeracheff or Harrar is just a misnomer. I just get it directly from Addis as have friends there. Around 4$/kg for a superb roasted

Starbucks isn't a charity so I'm sure it's coffee price is going to be more than if you buy it locally in Ethiopia. Plus since they sell tons of it a year worldwide they can't give everybody a cup from some specific village. They have to blend it from multiple sources in Ethiopia.

They do use Guji, Sidamo, Yirgacheffe and Hara

The manager called the police and reported a crime (trespassing) what do you want the Police to do, ignore the report and only select those who they think its worth it?

If your neighbour call the police on you on some make up charge and say you rob a store, would you think it was the police fault to arrest you? Or is it your neighbour faults?

LOL you are funny man
you are very correct, but in a general and foreign context. Now add the american factors - 1) This is an era of high distrust for the Police 2) This is racism,by American standards.3) We are in a trump era, racism and discrimination are the pilot fish to the shark(Trump).

At the end of the day, even if the store manager messed up big time, the police still have to think about the actions they are taking. they are not robots, and they do have discretion. Like we heard on the video, why didnt the other white people who were also previously loitering arrested?
This is actually the kind of thread @Śakra would love, lol

If this has happened in another country, the world's bully will have issued a damning human rights report. And would have applied sanctions.

Next time these Americans come to Pakistan with their 'human rights' report, they should shown these news clippings and their report thrown in the trash bin right in front of their eyes.

Any self respecting nation should act like this.

In my student life , i worked in restaurant . I know how police works. In US police give full protection to business. Because they pay taxes and city pay its employees through these local businesses and police comes under mayor .
You can keep defending the losing side. The reputation damage to Starbucks and the Police is evident and IMO its fair. THis is a sensitive, different, extreme political climate in the US now, and everyone has video cameras now, so almost everything is recorded and known.BUsineses pay tax? WE ALL pay taxes, so i dont really get that point.

From what I see, the police did a lot to defuse the situation, they tried to talk to the folks, then they try to talk to the manager, at the end of the day, that is the police duty to ask what did the manager want them to do, and the manager want them off the premise, the only way the Police can do is to arrest him. You can't just drag him out of the shop otherwise it would be police brutality

As to whether or not other white people not being arrested when they were themselves loitering. That is irrelevant in this case. Again, there are a thousand reason why the manager did not call cops on white folks loitering outside. So does the manager have thousand of reasons not to call the cop on the black folks, what relevant is that the manager did in this case, and the Police response. You cannot say other people are doing it and not arrested then that mean it is okay to do it, at the end of the day, the action itself broke the law. Just because other people may break the law does not mean law enforcement does not apply to such law.

it's like when you get caught J-Walking over an intersection, you said "many people J-Walk from this intersection" will not get you out of a ticket, J-Walking is breaking the law.

If they don't like it then they can go back to where they came from. Planes work everyday. You can't go into a restaurant/cafe etc and just sit there without buying anything. This is civilised society not a jungle.
This smells just like racism...hmmm

Here in London, UK, the blacks are the biggest racists. When non-blacks point this fact out you get accussed of racism.......the irony.........:disagree:

Big deal. blacks in america commit the most crime and murders especially of non-blacks. It's only natural that non-blacks are suspicious and wary of them. They bought it on themselves.

blacks in UK being racist has nothign to do with what happened in Philly. Starbucks CEO apologized and trainings about racial bias took place in the company, so they accepted they were wrong. You can find Sakra and enjoy your racial opinions that are good in PDF but you shouldnt and you dont say in public. cheers.

I know, I know. blacks are allowed to do ANYTHING they want. They are a protected, privileged class. When you try to stop them from robbing, committing a crime, raping or being violent towards you, you automatically become a racist...:disagree:........Even with affirmative action and free handouts, it's still not enough to appease or stop them from committing crimes. Isn't life just fair?......:disagree:

I stopped drinking coffee. Started doing weird things to my stomach.

Shame. I really used to enjoy it. I'm hoping it was only that one place I bought it from more than once.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it was that one specific place you bought it from more than once.

I find Starbucks Coffee to be overly bitter.

When on the go, I'm a Dunkin Donuts and Wawa coffee guy :enjoy:

Otherwise, I'm a single serve Keurig machine user.

What the manager and police did is totally logical. Unfortunately, the management seems to be buckling under pressure due to reverse racism.

Yes, it's as natural as white americans' being wary and suspicious of the muslims. Really sad that the minorities are perfectly fine with the white americans being racist against them. They must love the white men so much.

If I had a dollar for every time a post-Tianamen Chinese student boasted that China developed "all by itself" - i.e., without investment and technology transfer from non-Chinese - I feel I'd be rich enough to win a seat in China's National People's Congress!
If i had a dollar for every time a jew killed an innocent palestinian, I will probably be richer than netanhyu already.
