Black Hawk eager to fly for India

. . . .
Not only would these machines likely be INCREDIBLY expensive but it is highly doubtful the US would be willing to sell such sensitive equipment to India right now
Huh? You're highly doubtful the US would be willing to sell such sensitive equipment to India?? Then WTF is the special team from Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, which manufactures Black Hawk, giving a detailed presentation on this helicopter in the Defence Ministry on June 20?

Is that just for kicks? Probably for Bollywood! :woot: So get yer popcorn ready for a thrilling experience with a soon to be released Ram Gopal Verma block buster which includes a hot chase of the villains by a stealthy Black Hawk chopper!! :P

I don't why people call both these choppers in the same categories. Black Hawk can carry close to 15 soldiers while Mi17 can carry around 30 soldiers.

Because they both are in the medium class and used in the same roles. Helicopter weight classes are often devided into two versions, the one more for utility roles, the other for tactical roles as well. HAL LUH and Dhruv would be an example for the light class, the S60 and S92 an example for the meduim class.
For IAF the Black Hawk makes no sense as Killswitch correctly stated, because the Mi 17 is fielded in the same class, with the same roles, not to forget that HAL wants to develop an own medium class helicopter as the next development too. But we have to understand that the Indian defence market is the biggest in the word and that's why any manufacturer of arms and techs will offer anything they have to get a chance. That doesn't mean that we will buy all of these products, nor that all the goodies are really available for us (Boeing offered Growler lite, US government never approved such a sale), it's just marketing nothing else.

The presentation relates to the UH-60M and not the Stelath variant. The stealth part has been added in by journalist for sensational purposes, there is almost no way the USG would sanction a delegation to go to a foreign country and then give a detailed presentation one of the most secret projects on their books- especially not to India. They are willing to sell sensitive stuff to India just not it all and some strategic weapons (and I do include the stealth black hawk in this category) like B-52 and F-22, stealthy UH-60 is Probbly on the same "no-export" list.
