Bengalis are 70% of the total population as of 2001 census which has increased further I guess. So it doesn’t matter what Tribal people things or do. Rather the tribal should accept the reality and cooperate and integrate with the Bengalis. For info during. 1947 51% of Tripura population were Muslim but many migrated to east Pakistan. So I don’t see it as infiltration rather natural migration during pre partition period.

For info current Chief Minister of Bangladesh was also born in Bangladesh/east Pakistan . He was born in 1971 so his mom said they kept his name bijoy but likely after going to India obtained another birth certificate.

Manikya Bahadur was a minor and thus a Council of Regency was
molded with his mother Maharani Kanchanprava Devi as the Regent

dependent on India. Therefore, without any hesitation he made up his
mind and expressed his decision in favour of joining the Indian Union.

Regent Maharani Kanchanprava Devi conveyed the last aspiration of
late Maharaj, Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur in her public
statement on November 11, 1947, when she said, “The accession of
this State to the Indian Union was decided by the late ruler after due
consideration and full consultation with all sections of the people.”

They didn't want their state to become a part of Bangladesh, and in hindsight they were proved correct by Bangladesh's treatment of its ethnic minorities.

Having said that i am not entirely displeased that the Bengalis are calling the shots in Tripura. We need them and the BJP state government to keep the Christian missionaries in Tripura on a tight leash as they have been trying to brainwash certain Christian tribes for their benefit.

In fact, ex CM Manik Sarkar of CPI(M) was also very effective in dealing with those disruptive elements. More power to the bengalis!

Its a phase. Like always in history. Cos the opening of markets still hasnt reached some sections of the society and these groups use ethnic identity to phase up passions for political means. It will still continue for some more time. Like say 10-15 years.

On the other side India is getting more integrated like never before. I cannot remember the number of my own friends from TN marrying other state girls, highways, business, internet etc etc. If some basic issues like water are solved, especially in south, this regimentation will decline as politicians have nothing to speak with. With the onset of social media, governments are finding it tough on how to manage opinions online and that's one more reason for factionalisation. Infact its a challenge for any government, and in 10-15 years GoI and various state governments will form procedures to deal with online opinion stuff. Its good such discussions are happening now than later.
