Biryani prepared with Pakistani basmati creates record
ISLAMABAD (March 08 2008): Pakistan's supreme basmati rice has created the record for Guinness Book of World Record. The world's biggest Biryani cooking event, prepared with Pakistani supreme basmati rice, was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Delhi Sheila Dixil in New Delhi.
The Biryani was prepared with 4,000 kilograms of basmati rice, 1,200 litres of vegetable oil, 750 kilograms of curds, sliced onion and 1,090 kilograms of spices. The biggest vegetable Biryani was about 14,060 kilograms in weight, making a new world record.
The Biryani was prepared by 60 chefs in a huge vessel of 3,500 kilograms. The event was attended by many dignitaries from media, films, corporate sector, Pakistan High Commissioner Shahid Malik, President of Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tariq Sayeed, Vice President Iftikhar Ali Malik and former President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce Industry (KCCI) Tahir Khaliq.
The event will be helpful in popularising Pakistani rice Biryani, an Asian food, and the Saarc countries will have the credit of branding this special produce.
The event also recognised the importance of growers of basmati rice in Pakistan.
Malik Family is famous producer and exporter of Guard supreme basmati rice, represented Pakistan in promoting export of basmati rice. After the event Iftikhar Ali Malik congratulated Satnam Family for being on Guinness World Record.
