I doubt Alexander went roaming about alone in those mountains..no a simple and lonesome traveler..that's all. Besides its not just those mountains..its my city Delhi..no matter where I go it calls to me. To be here and to walk its streets, there is something VERY ancient here, a pulsing and throbbing presence beneath the ground which roots you to it. As I had told Hype, it runs in the family, my father roamed the world and I mean the world, from the Balkans to the African nations to the Middle east leave alone just the usual Indian haunts in Europe and the Americas..yet when he reached Syria..he could never shake the sense of belonging..an OLD place..and it is an old place which has seen the rise of man in his dawn years when we walked out of the African bush..

Interesting! I've felt a similar sense of belonging whenever I'm in the Western ghats. The hills and the people that inhabit them lend a familiarity and warmth like no other place. Was your Dad in the IFS? Such places are indeed seldom visited by other Indians.
@Indischer When things get saner over there, you should really visit Syria...it is a place of wonders..and the people are amazing.

One of my neighbours here is an ethnic Armenian with Syrian nationality. A short, nice guy, but an immense hit with the ladies.
