1939 - Triumph "Tiger 100" | Great Britain

The Tiger 100 was a sport modification of the well known Triumph Speed Twin in the motorcycle world. By installing an Amal Monoblock carburetor, sharper camshafts and forged pistons, the power of the 500 ccm motor was raised from 26 to 33 hp. It also featured a larger gas tank and quick-release mufflers.

The lighter, more powerful Tiger 100 was designed as a sport machine, and like previous models, the numerical designation ("100") indicated the claimed top speed in miles per hour. In the late 30s, the Triumph Tiger took its rightful place as one of the fastest production motorcycles of its time in the British market.

For those wishing to repeat the exploit of Freddie Clark, who in 1939 on a specially prepared Tiger "100" has shown the record speed of 189.93 kmph, the company offered a wide range of racing accessories: pistons, reinforced valve springs, gearbox gears with a changed ratio, mufflers-megaphones, etc.

With the appearance of the Tiger T100 the outlook for the brand as a whole was good, but the war made changes: first the production of civilian models was stopped in favor of military models, and a little later, in 1940, the Triumph factory was completely destroyed by German bombers.
