What's new

Big tourism plans in store for Bangladesh .

. . .
Cox Bazar is already infested with Rohingyas. Nobody is going to visit that place. It's just a matter of time the beach area turns into shithole of poor refugees.
Rohingya refugee camp is 35 km away from this project. In the earlier stage of influx, refugee set up camp haphazardly. But they are now being shifted to a big refugee camp many miles away from nearest beach area. That big refugee camp still would take less than 1 percent area of Cox's Bazar district.

Plus, large number of Rohingyas were present even before this latest influx. What I have heard and read, the only Rohingya you will come across in the beach are some children and teenager who sale small souvenir to the tourist.Rohingyas didn't create any significant problem for tourism there earlier and hopefully they will not do in future either.Vast majority of Rohingya refugee will be restricted to refugee camp only.

An off-the-cuff remark from someone who has little if any clue.

Google is your friend...

And I sincerely hope none in your family goes through this kind of sordid 'refugee' experience, clearly you have no compassion nor humanity. Even animals are humane sometimes.

And talking about $hitholes, for everyone's edification I present Puri, which is THE destination for Indian luxury tourists....:-)

There are obviously a lot of local tourism and with a growing middle class this is a growth sector.

Lack of international tourism (excluding non resident BDs) is essentially due to lack of quality infrastructure.

Dude you need to read the report. The methodology of the analysis is included.

Domestic travelers number is not quantifiable but expenditure is.
