Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has mobilised large number of stroopsat
the frontiers opposite to Habiganj and Brahmanbaria districts borders
following the Saturday's exchange of fire at Akhaura border that left two
persons, including a minor girl dead and another injured.

An Assistant Company Commandant of BSF Jeevan Kumar was killed in fighting
between the border guards of Bangladesh and India, apart from several other
casualties reported on both sides. Officials said body of Jeevan Kumar, 35,
was handed over to Indian Border Security Force (BSF) Commander Mrityunjoy
Kumar at a flag meeting at the Akhaura frontier about 00:01 Saturday night.

Our Comilla correspondent Ramiz Khan reported last night that a very tense
situation was prevailing throughout the Akhaura frontier in Brahmanbaria
district yesterday following the heavy exchange of fire between the BDR and
BSF on Saturday.

Both BDR and BSF have mobilised their forces at Akhaura frontier and they
have been kept under the red alert.

Following the Saturday's exchange of fire, two flag meetings were held on
Saturday night. After the meeting, body of BSF Company Commander Jibon
Kumar, 35, who was killed within 300 yards of Bangladesh land, and
critically injured BSF member KK Surendra were handed over to the BSF
authorities at 1am.

Lt Col Syed Quamruzzaman, Commander of 7 Rifles Battalion handed over the
body to Mrittyu Ranjan Kumar, Commander of 131 BSF.

On the other hand, school-girl Nahida Aktar, daughter of Mohammad Shahjahan
of village Kuripaika was hit by BSF bullet when she was playing some 1.5 km
away from the spot during the exchange of fire. She died on the spot.

Earlier on Saturday afternoon, BDR jawans of Fakirmura Camp arrested one
Ramdhan Pal, 50 of village Sarmalunga of Agartala along with contraband 20
bottles of Indian phensidyl. Immediately after his arrest, BSF members and
over 100 Indians led by BSF Company Commander Jibon Kumar entered village
Heerapur within 400 yards of Akhaura frontier of Bangladesh and launched
violent attacks on the six houses of civilians, including the houses of
Umeda Khatun, 40 and Dr Noman. The violent mob along with BSF members
ransacked the houses and looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.

Receiving information, BDR members rushed to the spot and tried to refrain
the BSF from helping the looters.

Witnesses said the BSF members had opened fire on BDR without any
provocation. In response, BDR also opened fire at BSF in self-defense. The
firing continued till about 9pm starting from 5pm.

After starting of fire on Saturday afternoon between the two sides, some
2,000 villagers of 10 villages, including Heerapur, Kuripaika, Anwarpur,
Dhaleswar, Bara Kuripaika, Noorpur, Abdullahpur, Kalikapur and Shaheb Nagar
left their village homes and took shelter at Akhaura upazila sadar and
adjoining areas.

Visiting different villages yesterday morning, it was found that the
panic-stricken people did not come back to their respective villages. They
are passing their days at other places putting their houses under lock and
key. Though men were seen at some of the houses, women and children were
staying far from their houses.

Shishu Mia, 40 and Khalilur Rahman of village Heerapur told reporters that
they were not aware where their wives and children had gone during the
exchange of fire.

The evidence of BSF firing was seen at different earth-made houses and
bamboo clusters in Heerapur village.

Meanwhile, the export activities remained suspended at Akhaura Land port
yesterday. A consignment of some 300 kilograms of Hilsa fish came back as
the Indian businessmen refused to accept it.

Besides, movement of the consignments of wheat at Dhaka-Agartala border
remains suspended.

BGB has to revert back to BDR before desired Aarong Dholai :coffee: .

I don't think the name will ever be changed to BDR again even if BNP comes to power. A deep scar
has been inflicted on that name thanks to traitorous Awami indian dalals. But the name BGB should
change. This name given by BAL dalals also holds a deep scar of subservience.

If you use "should", I'll use "must" because the new name or mutiny was orchestrated by a third hand and we as a nation can't accept it. Of course if it was changed normally without any background, I wouldn't have any objection.

Totally agree with you....then we won't blame you and you won't blame us.....:enjoy:

i have an idea.open a cattle market at border where indians sale catelles to bangalis .and open a pub wine bar on indo-pak border :meeting:
