Overview
The world’s most powerful countries may not necessarily be the most well-liked, but they are the nations that consistently dominate news headlines, preoccupy policymakers and shape economic forecasts. Rightly or wrongly, their foreign and economic policy decisions can have ripple effects all over the world. Their military budgets are tracked religiously. When they make a pledge, at least some in the international communitytrust they will keep it.

The Best Countries rankings, conducted in partnership with brand strategy firm BAV Consulting and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, is based on a survey which asked more than 16,000 people from four regions to associate 60 countries with specific characteristics. The Power subranking is based on an equally weighted average of scores from five country attributes that related to a country's power: a leader, economically influential, politically influential, strong international alliances and strong military alliances. The Power subranking score had a 7 percent weight in the overall Best Countries ranking.

Not only in terms of military - power can be in terms of influence, wealth and ect...

Its not in terms of military might. It talks about 'influence' - using power and 'alliances'. None of which the Indian military possess. So yes, from that perspective, it is surprising to find India in the top 20. But, I am surprised to not find African countries.

israel is of course ahead of iran , not only the jews in the united states outnumber muslims and iranians by a ratio of 7 million to some 3-4 million , but the only "persians" in the US who dare raise their heads are persian jews

LOOL The ranking is a big JOKE.
To be honest though, its just an organization who wike up 1 morning and started ranking countries based on its own personal view. So dont be surprised to see Iran far more stronger than both India and Pakistan:lol:. Same with Turkey being ranked way behind pakistan. Lol

.
IMHO, instead of South Korea, there should be Australia.....they've stronger military, international and political alliance....their overall influence is more than that of South Korea's............but the list is more or less fair...

.
iran is a strong country deal with it , iran has got oil while russia has got nukes , the US has both

I'm not going to argue with the rankings because it has a very very specific set of criteria that dictates this ranking, instead of criticising the ranking I would argue against the criteria used but even that is too much energy for what it is worth.

However, for "power ranking 2016" it would be good if 2016 data was used, the GDP figure is from 2013:

According to the IMF, India's nominal GDP in 2015 was $2.183 Trillion USD:

Today it should be over $2.2TN

Pakistan is ranked with a higher military power than India... in the website you provided.

power..... we should be behind china then, we have over about £400 billion in cash and over £150 billion in gold, we have very good armed forces. so yeah behind china.
China heavily influences the globe, it basically leads Asia - so ofcourse; its ahead of UK. If this was 1800s then you would see the UK.

IMHO, instead of South Korea, there should be Australia.....they've stronger military, international and political alliance....their overall influence is more than that of South Korea's............but the list is more or less fair...
South Korea has much more influence and military strength; it leads the pro-western countries in Asia long with Japan.

.
I have some doubt about South Korea ranking, but agree with all the rest...........
