BBC has an article on Afghans seeking refugee status in Belgium here. I guess had @Afghan-India not been banned we could get his (or her) opinion and appraisal of the situation.
Never the less there are (according to the article) about 1500 new Afghan applicants for the status and here is what the commissioner general for Refugees has to say on the situation.
I guess, Pakistanis are not the heartless barbarians they are cranked out to be by our Afghan neighbors -- they've hosted millions for 30+ years -- hosted a hostile people in their bosom.

"This protest cannot have an impact on the way we do the assessment," says Dirk Van den Bulck, commissioner general for Refugees and Stateless Persons.
Children living in the camp are unable to go to school
He argues that it is safe to return to some regions in Afghanistan.
"My office is considering the situation in Afghanistan as problematic," he says. "But not so problematic that the statute of protection has to be given to everyone coming from Afghanistan."
