Following is the latest antics from the swindler politician Lee Teng-hui.
Somehow I am not surprise.

Being a Japanese slave is tragic, Lee says - The China Post

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Former R.O.C. President Lee Teng-hui (李登輝) yesterday stated "being a slave for Japan is tragic," deflecting criticism he has incurred for saying he views Japan as his motherland.

"I was born and raised in Taiwan — and I have worked here; my feelings for Taiwan cannot be changed," Lee said. "Japan is considered an occupation regime. Being a Japanese slave is, in fact, tragic."

The former president made the remarks during a speech at an event held by Democracy Tautin (民主鬥陣), a group that participated in the Sunflower Movement in 2014.

Lee said many people have threatened to sue him over his declaration that he considered himself Japanese. The controversy originated over an interview with Lee that was published in the September issue of Voice, a Japanese-language magazine, in which Lee said he regarded himself as a citizen "fighting for the Japanese motherland."

He also said he regarded Taiwan and Japan as one country since Taiwan did not participate in the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945).

During his speech, Lee mentioned that he made the comment "being a Taiwanese is tragic" during a conversation with Shiba Ryotaro (司馬 遼太郎), a Japanese author who passed away in 1996. Lee expressed his "regret" over making the statement during his speech.

Lee further stated that while he had the opportunity to do government work and to "even become president for 12 years," he emphasized that he had not actively pursued the opportunity — the chance to become president "was handed to him."

Discussing mainland Chinese leader Xi Jinping's meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama at the end of September, Lee said he was concerned about how the meeting would turn out. He feared that the U.S. could pressure Taiwan into recognizing the "1992 Consensus."

"I do not know whether Tsai would agree with that," Lee said, referring to the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文). "She might possibly not agree to that."

The former president also voiced anxiety during his speech, stating that should Tsai successfully become the next president, he "did not know what President Ma Ying-jeou would do" during the interim after the election and before Tsai officially takes office. The inauguration of the next president is scheduled for May 20 next year.

Fortunately, this man isn't Chinese,he said that he is Japanese.
So shame for him!
Lee Teng Hui early life is hard to find. Most likely deliberately erased because he was born out of wedlock.
Here is what I have found out. LTH biological mother first married a local Taiwanese and gave birth to LTH half brother. However the father passed away. LTH biological mother then started living with a Japanese policeman and gave bith to LTH. LTH and his elder half brother then grew up with this Japanese father. But his real Japanese father NEVER married his biological mother.
After the war his real father returned to Japan but NEVER take his wife with him.
His mother then married another local Taiwanese man who became LTH step father. LTH rejected this step father and he never stop looking for his real father. His step father live in poverty even as he became Taiwan President.
This is what I have found out.

I guess this guy is an asset for China now and thus must be used accordingly.

Good that he is a friend of Japan.

This person is a paid whore. In fact, he even used to be a CCP member, before he switched to KMT, and then switch to pro-JP underling. He just follows the money.

I don't care if tomorrow he says China should annex Taiwan and nuke Japan. Let's stay away from him.

Hearsay and total hogwash. Lee Teng Hui is not Nihonjin , he does not have a single drop of Nihonjin blood in him. He's a Chinese Hakka ethnic. Stop propagating baseless rumors.

Lastly I don't understand why your view and insinuations hold any credibility, you are neither a Chinese citizen, neither a Taiwanese citizen. You're a Malaysian.

That's most probably true although quite unlikely to verify.

But the overwhelming feeling here is that he is indeed half-Japanese and a full sell out traitor. Hence he is almost universally hated. You can't simply change this perception and his latest antics have only contributed to the feeling.

I wonder what triggered him to do an about-turn? Surely he couldn't turn senile in such short time, lol. Who has the power to influence him?

A lot of Malaysian Chinese still care about mainland/straits politics. Depend on who you ask, most will know who is Ma Ying Jeou, Xi Jinping, and DPP.
