Beijing aiming for world's longest subway system

Beijing is set to overtake London as the city with the longest subway system in the world, with China's capital planning to stretch its subway rail to more than 500 kilometres by 2012.

according to the latest report,13 new subway lines will be in operation by 2012,and near 10 new lines are under construction now in the city.


And the quality of Beijing subway just blows London away!

This is why I tell everyone China is NOT a "3rd World" nation. Even ASEAN nations are no stretch of the imagination 3rd world -- Singapore, Malaysia is 1st world. Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar is 2nd world. I wish I could show people photos me took of Asia, it is BEAUTIFUL!

That is false, Tokyo has by far the most subways in the world! London doesn't even come close to 2nd.

PS: I will return to Beijing in a few years to start up a branch office there. I am excited since last I left they just finish the Bird's Nest (I think it is Line 10?).

You guys should come visit China. All cities in China are like this (or very close), lots of cultural and historical buildings as well as spanking-new skyscrappers! Even in small towns it is very nice. Lots of natural reserves, like parks and lakes, forests, deserts, mountains, etc.

Beijing Subway is tops. Shenzhen, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hongkong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Seoul, Kiaoshing, Taipei, Busan, Bangkok, Manila, Delhi, etc.... they are the best-of-the-best in the entire world!

Trust me, New York and Chicago can NOT compare.

Same here! I am from Beijing too. This photo is so typical of Dong Cheng Districht right next to the Forbidden City, such as JingShan park. It reminds me when I was little...

I love my motherland-Zhongguo. I hava browsen many of forums in USA and find there are many of yanquis are very innocent and unwisdom. They discuss about PLA that they think: PLA have never see some bears and injun who live in nevadan desert and they say that those bears woud begnaw the PLA and their brer-injun can kill all of PLA, while the scrap ends, they think Communist Party and PLA is Belial which is a evil force.
American also think they are correct all the time, but they are very laggard, in theirs eyes China is always stays evening-Qing Dynasty or 50's using lag weapons depend on large people to antagonize GI's . That's a joke.
Tomorrow is my homeland's birthday of 60, I bless my homeland more and more thriving and prosperious.
