BDR protests BSF work on Padua border

Indian Border Security Force's attempt at constructing a concrete structure triggers tension as Bangladesh Rifles protests by hoisting red flags on the Tamabil and Padua borders in Sylhet on Thursday.

The border guards of both sides sat at a flag meeting on Padua border, about 7 kilometers off Tamabil on Friday afternoon.

Second-in-command of 21 Battalion of BDR Major Mamun and second-in-command of Battalion -1 of BSF at Shillong SG Shukla led their respective sides in the one hour meeting.

Sources said Indian BSF guards brought some construction raw materials near border pillar 1275/1P and started building a concrete structure, close to the Tamabil land port 55km away from the city at about 4:00pm Thursday, prompting BDR to protest.

Major Mamun said the BDR had to hoist red flags as a sign of protest as any construction within 150 yards of the border line is prohibited. The Indian BSF had already moved within 120 yards of the border. Red flag is the ultimate signal before firing which compelled BSF to halt the construction work.

“We also asked them not to create obstacles for Bangladeshi nationals working on the farmlands, by the Padua borders, as our troops are still alert” Mamun said. Some Indian nationals protected by the BSF were attempting to grab those farmlands, he added.

Border guards of both the countries have been on alert at Tamabil and Padua borders since Thursday afternoon.

Sylhet - Border security force(BSF) of India tried to construct a concrete structure within 150 yard of the border line along Tamabil frontier in Sylhet on Thursday afternoon.(The New Age BD)

The BSF men were forced to stop construction of the structure in the face of strong protest by the Bangladesh Rifles, sources in the BDR said.

Local sources said BSF started to build a concrete structure within 150 yards of border line near the Tamabil land port in Goainghat Upazila in the district at about 4pm, prompting the BDR to Protest. But BSF did not pay heed to the protest of by BDR, the sources said.

Subedar Helal Uddin, in-charge in Tamabil BDR outpost, said they strongly protested against the BSF move to construct the structure within the no-mans land hanging red flags that later forced the BSF to stop the work.

Border guards of both the countries were in alert position at Tabamil, local sources said.

When contacted, second-in-command of 21 BDR Battalion major Mamun told New Age at 8pm on Thursday that the BSF men, who went to construct the structure, went back to their camp after BDR protested.

Indian BSF tries to set up structures on no man's land at Tamabil

u r serious people of BD understand about no mans land ?????

so why they come inside on mans land ... and they u say that BSF kill ur innocent people .... your innocent people why come inside no mans land ?????????????

Next time BSF tries just kill few of the BSF terrorists and they will think twice before stepping in

Indian BSF needs a contnuous kicking in their *** by our BDR to behave rationally. What can be expected of these Maratha looteras? They have been doing all these mischieveous works when BDR was in internal problem. Now, BDR is quite capable to punish the BSF criminals.

If BSF is that ready to give their blood for their ego, then well, they are welcome to do so. But, they will have to be ready to sacrifice their lives. BDR is full of no-nonsense troops who are ready to give life at a moment's notice. So, Indian BSF should not fear and try to test BDR resolve.
