BD - India Cricket 2015

This is not funny Bangladeshis, this is utterly shameful. Maybe the unexpected series win was too much for Bangladeshis to digest, time and again you guys have proved yourselves to be incapable of civilized behaviour, and this is one more example. Pardon my harsh words, but this is utterly utterly disgraceful, as disgraceful as your behaviour in the World Cup 2015. Shame on you Bangladeshis!

Mirpur (Bangladesh), June 22: Indian cricket team and Sachin Tendulkar's most recognised fan across the world, Sudhir Gautam, was attacked in Bangladesh on Sunday (June 21) after the hosts clinched a landmark series win at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium.

Bangladesh defeated India by 6 wickets (Duckworth-Lewis method) in the 2nd ODI last night to win the series 2-0 with one game left. As the hosts' fans were jubilant following this historic triumph, they took to the streets to celebrate late into the night. And in a shameful behaviour, decided to target an Indian fan. Gautam, who was at the stadium to support MS Dhoni and his men, was attacked outside the venue when he was about to board an auto-rickshaw.

Speaking to "ABP News" Hindi TV channel, he said, "I have never faced such a situation. I was about to get into the auto, when they started pelting stones. They were shouting that they have taken revenge for the quarter-final loss of World Cup 2015 in Melbourne and now they will take revenge outside too." The 34-year-old added that he was saved from the mob, by 2 policemen. Gautam is seen at India's matches with his body painted in tri-colour. He is always spotted in the stands waving the Indian flag with number 10 on his body (Tendulkar's ODI jersey number). He had travelled to Australia and New Zealand for World Cup 2015.

Tigers' win over Proteas silences skeptics: Gavaskar
Star Online Report

Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar has said that Bangladesh’s “splendid win” over South Africa in the three-match One-day series “should silence all the skeptics who were calling their earlier performances against Pakistan and India a flash in the pan.”

Gavaskar also described medium pacer Mustafizur Rahman as a “brilliant prospect” for Bangladesh and said “how he responds to the second season in international cricket is going to be the key.”

“The doubters who do not want to give credit to Bangladesh will try and say that they should win overseas before they are rated, as if other full member-nations (of ICC) are winning overseas regularly,” our New Delhi correspondent reports quoting the former Indian captain.

Recalling that only the West Indies of the mid-1970s to mid-1990s and the Australians from mid-1990s to about mid-2005 were winning consistently away from home, Gavaskar says “so to ask only Bangladesh to prove their credentials overseas is not cricket.”

About Mustafizur, he says Bangladesh “have certainly found in him a brilliant prospect…..In the first season, when a player is unknown, it does take time for the opposition to find out his strengths and weaknesses. By the time the second season comes along, there is a lot of work done by the captains and coaches of the opposition on how to neutralize his threat and it works to a great extent,” according to Gavaskar.

“Hopefully, Mustafizur will have a hand around his shoulder when things are going well so that he can stay strong and keep picking wickets for his country,” he adds.
