1.With BAL/SHW patronizing RAW sponsored Shabaghis, this element in an otherwise liberal BD society has emerged. With SHW making silly comments and her cohort like Vitamin Hanif, Goonda Maya and Kuan Kamal, etc solving every case instantly blaming BNP-Jamat, the Police have been unable to solve a single case of this nature. It would seem it is BAL/SHW's policy to allow these so that she can remain in power illegally/unconstitutionally.

2. There you are. SHW has already solved all such cases in advance. So Police have nothing to do - except agree with SHW's findings consulting Nostradamus. And no cop in BD dare to find anything other than what SHW has already found.

Mr. Shourie and L.K. Advani have their own reason to go ballistic on the present government, and we all know the reason. However, there are apolitical anti-establishment intellectuals who take sides as per their own judgement, and there are pro-establishment intellectuals that political parties acquire through state patronage, they are like assets who would turn a blind eye to the wrong doings of the party they are loyal to, and speak selectively in support of the party whenever required. Congress being in power for a long time has a big pool of the latter type, now BJP will build their own pool. Just see the scenario in Bengal, the loyal intellectuals (some of them I like for their work) of CPM never noticed the wrong doings and political pogroms of their party, and now the secular-party-in-power seems to have their fair share of loyal 'intellectuals' who are oblivious to the fact that it is a menace (edited the name of the party in fear of being picked up, in India only BJP is fascist, others are just secular).

As usual you look for motives in Arun Shourie's words, dont you think his criticism is valid?

Agreed, most intellectuals worth their salt are left leaning liberals, but thats the case in rest of the world as well, just look at USA. To think that all of them are on congress payroll and dont have opinions of their own is myopic thought process.

BJP, or probably Narendra Modi himself, has huge disdain for intelligentsia! Just look at the kind of people they appoint as head of institutions while people like Arun Shourie gets sidelined. Most of the RW celebrities in twiiter are busy circulating conspiracy theories about who's father worked for whom and who didn't speak up at which year. This is good as far as retweets are concerned, however you dont create a rw narrative like this. Where is the debate about reform, privatization, open economy, reducing govt footprint etc. Everything boils down to beef, anti national, xtian, muslim, go to pakistan inanities!

I have nothing but contempt for our home grown budhhijibis. Bengal is the celebration of mediocrity thanks to 30 years of cpm rule. Our current crop of intellectuals are sycophants of worst order.
