Bangladeshi Expat starts Britain's first Sharia compliant airline - Firnas Airways

I think a "Sharia" airline may work in the UK.
There is over 4 million Muslims in the UK now and there is a report that predicts it could rise to 13m by 2050.

Although I have zero business experience, I also think he should focus on getting himself known for offering good service at decent prices - he cannot really charge much more than say Easyjet or Ryanair do but contrary to popular conception most of their passengers do not pay the lowest advertised rates.

The one problem he may have is that he is likely to alienate non-Muslims by the emphasis on "Sharia" as that has negative connotations and lots of non-Muslims would not buy say buy a halal Chicken sandwich, as they wrongly think the animal has suffered before it got killed.

Anyway, good luck to the guy and we shall see how it goes.

Yes true. In fact, I actually think if he runs a budget carrier on the motto that its 'halal'. that might actually work. Would attract lot of young people and students who would love to travel within UK or to nearer locations. Given Ryanair and Easyjet dont really follow their advertised price (which is no secret to passengers), I think there is a market to be taken here. Simply put, as he claims it to be 'halal', he would be honest to his prices too. No humty dumpty.

The only other challenge he would face is when he intends to expand to international flights.. say mainly in places like USA, France etc where the authorities would really frown upon the fact its 'halal'.. not to mention that it would connect people's memory back to 9/11.

If you are in the UK, here's the link to the Channel 4 documentary,

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/how-to-start-an-airline

This airline is named after ABBAS IBN FIRNAS who had attempted flight a thousand years before the Wright brothers. Some tidbits about his story.

The primary requirements passengers have from an airline is to be cost effective, stick to timings & cleanliness.

Others things matter little.

Excellent. Wish we had one in Down Under.

Running an airlines is not that easy.

I was looking into his present business adventure which is SUNNAMUSK perfumes/oils.

He has absolutely no business plan other than his gut feeling that a Sharia airline would do well. He has no experience of the airline business. Airline business requires a lot a cash initially.

Its a giant leap from selling perfumes to sell plane tickets to the believers. Religious people may prefer to fly in a Sharia compliant flight, but only would if they deem it safe.

Just watched this programme tonight - actually very entertaining and the guy is very likeable and energetic. Unfortunately i think the business has no chance.

He has nothing in place and no idea about the red tape in this business, he went and leased a plane without any plans.

And tbh his business is an answer to a question no one asked. There are many airlines that don't serve alcohol - Saudi, PIA, Kuwait Air, etc - it's not an issue, people choose the most convenient, timely and well priced option.

Using religion to do business is not new for some Bangladeshis. Deceiving people in the name of God is nothing new for fake Muslims who use religion to do business.

I am sure this guy has nothing Islamic in his life except his beard. What does it mean by sharia compliant airlines? Stupid business tactics. This type of people malign Islam abroad.

religious business it to wide one cn earn so much until stupids are alive . next sharia pub and night clubs
We had an Afghan born drug dealer at college. Real nice guy. He used to snort cocaine in clubs but would never touch alcohol. According to him, depressants drugs were not allowed.

The entire charas and ganja trade in Poona is controlled by the mozzies.

Afeem too.

We had an Irani cafe seth in college. Smoking afeem from porcelain pipes, and used to get big dabbas of the most divine beef his wife used to make for us. Semi dry green colored. Big chunks. That with broon after you're stoned ...

Cheers, Doc

Demand and supply. Personally I stay far away from opioids.
Pune cuisine didn't impress me as much as Bangalore or Delhi. Any suggestions?

There is nothing like Pune cuisine man. You get all world cuisines, or at least most of them.

I'm personally not into the fancy European stuff. I like my oil and masala. And plenty of really good Muslim and Maratha joints here for fish, mutton and beef.

Cheers, Doc

I'm not into depressants as much, though I have tried it in some parties. Bong hits are a reasonable experience.
And the stuff that people get from Kerala almost paralyses me.
Hash is okay.

I should have gone for the fish maybe.
I have tried the food at a restaurant called tiranga. Have also tried the Donne biryani. Would look for good local joints.
Beef and mutton are great in Delhi. Let's see where Pune stands.

Btw, if you like spicy food, you have to try the Hyderabadi biryani at Meghana restaurant in Bangalore. Probably the best in the country.

Guys - couldn't we discuss this OT discussions somewhere else? Charas, Ganja, Afeem, Beef and other contrabands?
