Europeans are white and christian and their nationalism is somewhat based on language. Arab nations are muslims and speak arabic and yet they are many nations. Modern progressive nations are adopting constitutions that are free from any racial or religious biases. Communism was one basis that united Soviet Union and holding the China. What European Union has economically, India has done politically. My intention is that every nation has something that binds them together and its not necessary the samething will bind others elsewhere. Two nation theory created Pakistan out of India but Islam was not good enough reason to keep the east and west pakistan united. As long as people are driven by goodwill, common vision and shared values, they will remain one as a nation.

We are different. Period.

We treat Indian Bengalis foreign to our culture even if they are also Bengalis. They also treat us foreign people. They don't even call us Bengali due to Islamic influence in our culture.

They call use Bangal which is a slang word to tease us for our Bangla accent. They feel closer to Delhite than a Bangladeshi. Ask an Indian Bengali member he will agree.

We are not same as Indian Bengalis. Our history is different from West Bengal. We were East Bengal under the British East India Company. This part of Bengal witnessed mass mixing of different races. Arabs, Turks, Persian Muslims mixed with local Buddhists and Hindus of East Bengal and gave us our unique 'Bangladeshi' look. We even don't look exactly same as West Bengali Indians. Our people have more flattened face than Indian Bengalis.

Our language is called Bangla but we both part of Bengal have different language vocabulary. We have many loan words from Arabic and Farsi but they have more Sanskritized words in Bangla. We say paani but they say Jol. There are thousands of other words which are differently pronounced. Our language accent is completely different.

Islam and Hinduism both have influence on our unique Bangladeshi culture but they have only huge Hinduism influence on their culture.

Sir, firstly Indian Bengalis doesn't treat bangladeshi as a foreigner. Infact a huge number of people of kolkata have came from Dhaka itself. Secondly our history is never different from East Bengal, we both share the same forefathers. From Gangahridai to Pala dynasty we have same ancestors, only during the middle age Islam spread through Baktiyar khilji. Our language is Bangla too, just because you use a different accent doesnt make you any different. Infact oriya, bengali, assamase all have almost similar accent. And bangal is not a slang. The term Bangal came from "DHAKAI BANGAL" people from dhaka. People use to generalize them as dumb, as dhaka people were more simpler and down to earth and distanced themselves from all kind of unnecessary political fights.
