Bangladesh has recalled its High Commissioner in Islamabad Suhrab Hossain and asked him to return home as soon as possible.

Sources at the foreign ministry said the decision follows the recent diplomatic spat between the two countries over the war crimes trial in Bangladesh and Islamabad’s withdrawal of a ‘terror-linked’ diplomat from Dhaka.

Hossain, who has been on a contractual appointment, was in Dhaka at a time when Bangladesh’s acting High Commissioner to Pakistan, a junior diplomat, had to confront the Pakistani government on the war crimes-related issues in Islamabad.

Islamabad summoned the acting High Commissioner several times in the light of reports of a Pakistan diplomat’s links with militants in Dhaka.

Pakistan withdrew Fareena Arshad, the diplomat, but denied that she had links with any terrorist outfit in Bangladesh.

Asked about the reason behind Suhrab Hossain’s recall, Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque told bdnews24.com that his contract was about to expire.

“It’s normal,” he said, when asked whether the order was linked to any negligence of duties on the high commissioner’s part.

Hossain’s tenure expires in April next year.

“It takes time to complete the process,” Haque said, when asked about the order of recall being served before the expiry of the contract.

Hossain, a career diplomat, was in retirement when he was first appointed the country’s envoy to Pakistan on a contractual basis in 2010 for two years.

The contract was subsequently extended twice.

A freedom fighter, Hossain joined the Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1973.

1.As ordered by Delhi. But hopefully a new Hi Com will be appointed to replace Hussain whose tenure is already over.

2. BD has never taken such measures when unarmed civilians have been tortured and killed by BSF. Even when all the world knows RAW had organized the Peelkhana carnage, nobody asked a question to India.

3. This will get worse if Pakistan acts as hoped by India. If Pak Hi Com is also recalled then we both are playing in the hands of India.

Is ending relations going to solve anything?

This was bound to happen. You cant expel two Pakistani diplomats in a year and expect no retaliation. People of Bangaldesh need to reflect upon their choices in bringing AL to power again and again if they wish to have a good relationship with Pakistan and resist the Akhand Bharat Project.

Well that's what RAW has scripted. Alenate BD from Pakistan to prove that the Two Nation Theory is dead. Cut off the umbilical chord that connects BD with the Ummah. That will make us secular and easier to join the Akhand Bharat project.

We killed the two nation theory in 1971 and we are glad it's dead. The umbilical chord connects only you and the fringe minority of Salafist sympathizers to Ummah, not the entire country.

If i had been RAW chief i might be pulling my hairs... ....Indians don't think that high of them however Pakistan and Bangladesh give them lot of credit....

Hasina has turned Pakistan into punching bag. We should cut all relationship with BD there are 200 and more countries to have good relations... i am fed up with this weekly bullshit..

What i see is that Hasina is looking for a foreign boogey man for her domestic problems

The more un democratic means she tries to kill her opponents the stronger they will get

Blaming Pakistan will only provide limited time relief at the end of the day she needs to stop acting like a dictator and more like an elected pm who listens to opposition insteaf of branding them army or Pakistan supporters
