Bangladesh Police already operate Few Cobras. Now according to bdmilitary inside source ( reliable enough) Bangladesh Army is getting unknown number of Otokar Cobra II LAV from Turkey. The first batch is set to arrive this month.

Bangladesh Army was seeking 4x4 Armoured Vehicles for use in UNPSOs to provide fire support to infantry units. Numerous proposals were presented as options to the Army including Turkish Otokar Cobra and Ukrainian Dozor-B for example.

It seems BA is converting some infantry Bns into mechanized units. That makes sense. We have learnt in the 1971 War that it doesn't take much to train a conventional infantry soldier. With the current holding of tanks and those in the pipeline, BA could raise several Armored Bdes. Though our terrain presents limitations to tank op, trans-border the terrain is tank-able.

@BDforever Man That's real good news! But if It's true that the first batch will be at this year, it means BD wouldn't be only the first export of the Cobra II, but also the first user worldwide. I heard that, It's still under army acceptance tests...They'll replace the older Cobras. Btw brother, congrads on becoming a senior!!!

Good news, the army needs to convert a number of units from light infantry to mobile infantry. More 6x6 or 8x8 vehicles are needed, especially if they can rapidly deploy units with anti-tank / anti-armour and manpads, like the us javelin or similar system.

Congrats to Bangladesh on this purchase! Cobra II is a good vehicle.
