State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak has said the country's export earnings will be five billion US dollars from the ICT sector along with huge employment generation by 2025.

"Country's ICT sector has already created employment for 2.0 million youths...the sector will earn $5.0 billion and provide employment to more than 2.50 million people within the next two years", he said.

The minister said this while taking part in the discussion on the thanksgiving motion of the President's speech at the Jatiya Sangsad here with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair on Wednesday.

Taking part in the discussion, the lawmakers highlighted different development activities in various sectors including communication, socio-economic, education, youth and sports, and information and communication technology (ICT) under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, reports BSS.

The President in his 168-page speech on January 5 last, on the first day of the maiden session in 2023 of the 11th parliament, focused on the country's massive successes in different sectors.

The title should be BD to earn $500 billion from ICT sector Palak wants all us to hope..

Speaking futuristic without planning to make it happen is a BAL policy of political business.

India employs may be 5 million people for its $200 billion IT sector. How is this guy hoping for 2.5 million employment for mere $5 billion?

It maybe possible but I don't see it happening with BAL in power.

with 2 million currently employed, have they given revenue numbers of current business?

We can do it. If government try to reduce teacher and student politics in Our public universities. Our public universities are taking bright students and making most of them useless unemployable trash!

Totally possible.

Since 2009 ICT exports have been growing by around 40% a year on average.

Last fiscal ICT exports were 1.4 billion US dollars. Assuming same average growth rate to 2025 then it is 1.4 x 1.4^3 which is 4 billion US dollars.

PS - ICT exports how up after BAL came into power and launched their "Digital BD" initiative.

A curse that also affect Pakistan - but "less so India" - food for thought on why i guess.

Students are in politics and street demonstrations in both BD and Pakistan is because our politicians use them. Now, the students themselves start their own movements for this party or the other.

Some student leaders want to get prominence in this way that they think will propel them to national politics in the future.
