Bangladesh signals shift towards China, Pakistan: report

For those who care to understand the current situation on broader prospective.

There are many contributing factors why Hasina and her regime trying to shift focus and here are few main ones:

One: Awami League regime and Hasina has to lean on China for purely development fund and investment. In current world economic reality there is NO one who can provide nowhere near much as China can. Besides, China giving duty free access to Bangladesh at this critical economic juncture, could be great relief.

Two: Populism of hindutva agenda and sidelining of Congress party in india put CURRENT indian govt at odd with Hasina. If indian govt changes and lets say congress gain power, Hasina and awami league will switch to slavery mode like it had been in last 10+ years. So anyone thinking there is a permanent shift in Hasina and her regime policy, need to think twice.

Three: Indians upgraded contact with Hasian's main rival, her sister (whom india consider as B team). In the awami palace politics, indian double dealings has irked Hasina.

Four: indian position in South Asia and in extra regional area diminished quite a bit and going down very rapidly. Chinese hit on Ladakh, Nepali bold move against indian (political, economic and border) aggression event when heavily landlocked, Even Bhutan move to discuss border issue with China directly, add upto deterioration of indian position. Not to mention indian economic condition is very much in decline even before the COVID.
