Bangladesh sets up 1971 war crimes tribunal

Pakistan has said if Bangladesh seek to try its citizens for wrong doing then it is Bangladesh internal matter.

Awami stooge law minister twisted that statement saying Pakistan decleared no interference, as if there was ever any intention to interference.

And people like Iajdani who still failed to proof his earlier fictitious claim quick to jump on Awami minister claim.

But bottom line, this statement by Pakistani ambassodor is nothing new or change anything except the fact it badly expose awami position of telling lies to people that Pakistan is interfering in Bangladesh.

Nothing but political hype though awami scum wish to demise Islamic personal for political gain. Same people that are being accused as war criminal now were awamis allied against BNP not so long ago. They were patriotic back then.

I bet one thing here. If jamat form coalition with awami against BNP then jamatis will be label as mother of all patriotic force instead of war crminal. Bloody awami munafiqs.

hey guys , whats the meaning of "rajakar" and "munafiq". These terms seem to come up again and again

. .
Munafiq = Deceiver +hypocrite+ who deny Islamic rules.

Razakar = Patriot/volunteer. (Generally, according to AL and India, Razakars are those who supported PK instead of BD in 71 as it is believed that it was their right.)

There should be a joint war crimes tribunal with pakistani officers in the dock also along with bengalis that commited crimes on bengalis and west pakistanis.

Though your suggestion is moraly correct practically it is not possible. Pakistan does not officially acknowledge any wrong doing by its military and therefore won't convict any one still living. For us the chapter is closed.

For Bangladesh they can do whatever they wish to do with their own citizens.

Saudi Arabia bins reports on tension

Saudi Arabia yesterday ruled out media speculations about "deterioration" of Dhaka-Riyadh ties over Bangladesh's initiatives to expose some Jamaat-e-Islami leaders to justice as part of a process to try perpetrators of crimes against humanity in 1971.

"The relations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the government of her Excellency Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are such strong in which no doubt can be penetrated at all," said a statement of the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka referring to some Bangladeshi newspaper reports fearing the bilateral ties could be affected if the Jamaat leaders were exposed to trial.

The embassy requested all the press media and "some responsible persons" not to involve Saudi Arabia in this issue as the matter "is an internal affair of Bangladesh".
This was the second Saudi statement on the war crime trial issue in a week while Riyadh last week rejected another media report on suspected 1971 war criminal and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mir Qasem Ali's alleged Saudi mission to lobby against the trial process.

Foreign Secretary Mijarul Quayes at a regular press briefing said Dhaka was not faced with any pressure from Saudi Arabia or any other foreign country regarding the trial of the perpetrators of the crimes large-scale killing, rapes and arsons during the Liberation War

Thanks but I am not worried about above article. It's just diplomatic lingo to get by but reality is what's matter. Histrionically awami is a anti-Islamic party and Saudi is not in love with AL or hasina.

Why is your government crying about involvement of Saudi or Pakistan? You do not need Saudi or Pakistan endorsement to fulfill your agendas or do you? ;)

Do what ever in your agendas and we will do ours? :smokin:

Jamaat admits opposing Liberation War

Chittagong, Apr 13 (bdnews24.com) — A top leader of Jamaat-e-Islami admitted on Tuesday that the party was opposed to the independence of Bangladesh in 1971.

"Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, as Pakistani citizens, opposed those fighting for independence in 1971," said Chittagong Metropolitan Jamaat chief Shamsul Islam MP.

He, however, said that, "The party did nothing to counteract the sovereignty of Bangladesh after it became independent," he said.

The Jamaat leader was speaking to reporters at a briefing called to express the party's reaction to the police decision of preventing it from holding a public meeting on Apr 11.

When asked whether Jamaat's role in 1971 was wrong, Islam said that the matter should be discussed.

"It's not right to term anyone as war criminal prior to the investigation."

Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed, Jamaat's secretary general, has in recent times faced difficulties in holding party programmes in different parts of the country as many people allege that he is a war criminal.

Chittagong is the latest of such incidents where on Apr 11 Mojaheed had to return to Dhaka, failing to hold a party meeting not only in the scheduled place, but also at its Chittagong office.

Asked whether these obstructions resulted from Mojaheed's controversial role in the Liberation War, Islam said that Motiur Rahman Nizami and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed did not do any misdeeds in 1971.

"If anyone makes such allegations, we will take them to the court."

Referring to the combined movement with Awami League in 1996 against the then BNP government, he said, "If we were not criminals then, how come we have become criminals now?"

In a written statement, the Jamaat leader accused the government of staging a 39-year old farce in the name of trying war criminals.

Islam criticised the government for completely failing to resolve the water, power and gas crises and to control the price hike of essentials.

He also said that the golden boys (AL activists belonging to the party's student and youth wings) of Awami League have done nothing but tender-mongering, extortion and terrorism.

Later, the Jamaat leader declared a five-day long protest programme including exchanging greetings with the mass people on Apr 14, sharing opinion with the leaders on Apr 15, protest rallies at upazila-level on Apr 16 and Apr 17 and 'Bhat Chai, Kaj Chai' (We want food, work) movement on Apr 17.

Metropolitan Nayeb-e-Amir, Afsar Uddin Chowdhury, assistant secretary general AJM Obaidullah and other Chittagong party leaders were also present at the briefing.
