Well if it's zakat then I would say it's solid money and basically our money.

Zakat is one or five pilars of Islam. So giving or taking zakat isn't like begging or taking alms.

Zakat is mandatory for rich Muslims and if you have ability to pay zakat ,but you don't pay it , you are doing a Haram thing but that don't make you a kafir.

However if any muslin equate zakat with alms ,that means he is refusing a pilar of Islam. Therefor he/she instantly become kafir.

It's even worse than declaring drinking wine as halal!

On the other hand Islam discourage taking alms.

So zakat is not like alms ,but it's the right of poor.

Very sad @Atlas bhai, it is our fault as a society (and govt.) when we cannot ensure minimal safety and organized situation for people where they have to ride on roofs of trains (not enough trains) or ferry accidents like this (not enough ferries). The crushing weight of overpopulation (and bureaucratic lethargy) has everyone responsible for safety stumped and their hands tied behind their backs.

Human life is so cheap in Bangladesh.

When it's Zakat /Fitar it's declared to recipient and printed on aid articles.
Arab aid goes to African states and many of them have no reason to believe they have friendly relations with Arabs.
