Bangladesh Navy was established on 1971 during the liberation war. Now The Bangladesh Navy is keeping security of bay of Bengal and also performing United Nation's peace keeping mission. Now Bangladesh is giving a vast attraction to modernise it's Navy as the Force Goal -2030. The Prime minister of current government, Sheikh Hasina has taken several attempts to modernise our Navy. Now our Navy is warship builder Navy. We made Pabna class petrol boat, Padma class OPV, Shobuj Bangla class IPV and Durgam class anti submarine corvette. While addressing a function the President parade at the Bangladesh Naval Academy on December 24, 2017 Prime minister Sheikh Hasina had said Navy could able to export warships. "We will be able to turn Bangladesh Navy from buyer into a builder Navy gradually and we ourselves can export warships inshallah" she had said. Now BN is going to make larger warships such as corvette, frigate and light destroyer. BN already got the ToT of Type-56 corvette and now we going to make it's modernise version entitle 'Shadinota' class corvette. Now Navy has taken attempt to make Frigate. On December 23, 2015 Prime minister Sheikh Hasina handed over CDDL to Bangladesh Navy as it's enterprise. CDDL is now an ISO 9001:2015 certified company for ship design and shipbuilding. The Type-56 corvettes and the Frigates will build here and now BN preparing it for building them by Chinese help. The MD of CDDL disclosed that it will constructs warships under a joint venture on a government to government (G-to-G) deal with reputable warship building foreign companies that have better experienced in building frigate. Primarily combined upgraded version of the Chinese Type-54A and Type-57 frigate will build. The version is call Type-054B or Type-57-2 in China. China and European company will give their components. The major European components are Engie, combat data system, AESA 3D surveillance radar, sonar, ASW torpedo, Helicopter, main gun, EW system, and the Chinese components are MRSAM, FCR Radar, OTH Radar, CIWS gun, CIWS missiles.


★ General Specifications ---

1. Displacement - 4500-5000 tonne.

2. Project Cost - 380$ million dolar.

3. Crew - 150-200.

4. Speed - 25-30 knots.

5.Operational range - 15000 miles.

6.Life time - 30 year.


Their most sensor will come from European company. These will latest modern equipment.

★ Sensors and Engine ---

1. Engine -BN is evaluating marine disel engines from SEMT Pielstick (France) and also MTU (Germany). BN also spoke with GM for US built engine.

2. Radar - Leonardo AESA 3D Radar and Leonardo ATH ENA CDS.

3. Sonar - They will use hull mounted and towed arry sonar supplied by Atlas Elektronic of Germany.

4. Helicopter - Leonardo will supply most of the anti submarine warfare sensors and also AW-159 helicopters.


Their most armaments will supply China such as AShM, SAM, CIWS etc.

★Armaments ---

1. Gun - 76mm main Gun from 2. Leonardo with stealth turret.

3. Anti Ship Missile - YJ -12 AShM.

4. Torpedo - AS244 Mod ASW.

5. CIWS - FL-3000N and Improved Type -730B, CIWS Gun with latest FRC to decrease reaction time.

6. SAM - 32 cell VLS with total 64 nos MRSAM LY-80N with Kronos Grande naval radar and Athena Combat data system.

Two will built in China simultaneously with 6 Bangladesh.

So according to this article, the engines and sensors will be Western and the weapons Chinese?
Not sure how all this is going to work together but if it can be made to work, I am all for it.:partay:

According to bdmilitary.com and defbd.com these weapons and sensors will use these frigates. Links are give in the article.

Many Chinese systems have nato standard compatibility. It’s similar to how western package is available to Russian aircrafts for ex.

Don't worry, Thailand has done this. They buy Chinese 039B submarines, but missiles come from the Western. China can certainly provide better missiles (refer to Iran's C-802 missiles). But the choice is in you.
