Chittagong, 31 January 018: The Bangladesh Navy's annual sea exercise "Exercise Safeguard-017" has concluded Wednesday (31-01-2018) successfully by launching long-range missiles in the Bay of Bengal. In this, Major General (Retd.) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Security Advisor to the Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Major General (Retd.) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, witnessed various trials of the closing day from the naval warship 'Bangabandhu' as Chief Guest. At this time, the Navy Chief Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed along with other high officials and were also present.
In this 18-day long 18-day-long exercise, the special naval commando squad, Swad, and Maritime Patrol Air Craft and helicopter of Naval Aviation participated in the war of 50 different warships, terrorism and militancy, including the Bangladesh Navy, Frigate, Corvette, OPV, Mine Swiper, Patrol Craft, Missile Boat. Besides, various maritime organizations including Bangladesh Army, Air Force and Coast Guard are participating in this exercise. On the final day of the exercise in the three stages, the naval warship of the Bangladesh Navy showed the launch of a long-range missile, a submarine bombing, air warshorn gunfight, and various naval warfare strategies. In the first and second phase of the exercise, surveillance, search and rescue operations, logistic operations, landing operations and defense of naval installations in coastal areas are conducted in the sea. The main theme of this year's exercise was to protect the sovereignty of the deep waters of the Bay of Bengal, to protect the sea resources, to prevent human trafficking and smuggling, to protect the fishermen, to preserve biodiversity in the coastal areas.
Earlier, when the main guest arrived at the ship, Commander BN Fleet Rear Admiral Ala Ihshram Yaq welcomed him. A well equipped team of the Navy gave the guard the honor of the chief guest on the ship. Among others, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar, high-ranking military and civilian personnel, Principal Staff Officers of the Naval Headquarters, Commander Chittagong Naval Area, Commander BN Fleet and other senior officers were present.
