2500-3000 feet would qualify as hills. BD standards sure they are mountains. But maybe its just me because am used to seeing 15-20k mountains here.

This is getting embarrasing for bd each passing day....

First no indigeneous govt. Then no olympic medal now no tourists....

The main reason i feel about no tourism in bd maybe bcoz foreigners thinking it below dignity to ask for bd visa....imagine an American asking for bd visa....sounds like bill gates hiring an auto rickshaw....

A normal tourist would want to experience everything in a country. That is why a country full of variety and diversity like France is more touristy than Austria.

Also Bangladesh is relatively less known around the world.

Yes the only thing that keeps us behind is govt initiatives. And no you're wrong. If not Bangladesh is atleast better know than Pakistan in terms of achievements.

Nope. Not below dignity you mad? But they aren't coming because political instability that occurs frequently and possible worsening of security.

And foreigners need a permission and sometimes obligatory escort to go to these region. I have seen more tourists complaining about accompanying Police than safety risks.

They are beautiful . BD suffers from lack of recognition . I consider Iceland in my top 5 most beautiful countries in the world . But if you look up it's statistics it's tourism stats are even lower than Places like Jordan or Oman . Less visited doesn't mean it's not beautiful .

India attracts more tourists than Australia . Go figure that out . Does that Mean India is more beautiful than Australia? It just means less people can visit Australia because of Stringent visa regulations .

Nuclear weapons , Global political influence , Terrorism sponsor , Sport , Music (Pakistani Music is quite popular) has made sure we are splashed across newspapers everyday across the world .


There was this Cab driver in Malaysia and he asked me about musharraf , benazir bhutto , Imran Khan and Karachi . Pakistan or Pakistani's as a whole are quite well known around the world .

BD is probably the least well known of the bigger populated countries in the world .

The sub continent maybe, But as far as South Asia goes both Sri Lanka and the Maldives are top tourist destinations in the world, Especially from Europe East Asia and North America

Even India attracts some 8 million tourists per annum

Surpassing 24 billion dollars revenue this year probably I heard as well. India makes up in Tourist per capita spending (well heeled folk etc) to make up for relatively fewer "bulk" visitors (compared to Asia in general). India makes the same revenue from tourism as Japan does with an economy about half the size (in nominal terms).

Real growth in India tourism industry will be from 2020 onwards I believe.

It seems like non smoking industry.. but this is the most screwd up industry..
Thai, egypt, turkey heavily depend on tourism and none of them doing any good.

They are all doing far far better overall than BD ever will be in even 50 years.

They are definitely hills.....heck even the REAL nilgiris in South India....we generally call them hills too and they are far taller than this nonsense they call "mountains".

Then what is use of the intellect....In tamil we have saying....the boiling of milk creates the froth, from froth came the creation....but here what rise through the boiling of milk seems to be evaporating.

And then we have members here who believe its actually bad for BD to have any industry above RMG....any drive for something beyond that.

The socioeconomics of Bangladeshi immigrant populations do not look that promising either.

There needs to be complete overhaul of BD education and also demand for good intellect within BD itself.

I feel it can happen with someone like Yunus leading the country to fight against the corrupt bureaucrats....rather than just keep it all the same and switch between the two ladies.

You can see alot of white tourists in Northern Pakistan especially Gilgit Baltistan . Its a favourite with climbers from around the world . Offers an experience like no place in the world .

Alot of whites can be encountered in Lahore , Islamabad and Taxila . These days you can see them because Pakistan in 2016 is the safest it ever has been in more than a decade .

The number tourists in pakistan now exceeding 1m+ even in our worst time in 2012-2013 the number of tourists were around 1m.

In Pakistan the number of 20,000 feet mountains and above is so much its unknown how many of them are actually there. Many of them are unknown and unnamed . We also have more 8000 metre mountains than any country in the world . 2500 feet would pass as a semi hill here .
