Bangladesh 'far ahead' of India : Sen | Bangladesh | bdnews24.com

Kolkata, Jan 6 (bdnews24.com)— Nobel laureate Amartya Sen says Bangladesh has overtaken India in "every parameter of human development".

The globally acclaimed economist delivered the G.L. Mehta lecture at the IIT Bombay campus entitled "India: A defence and a Critique" on Saturday, according to the Times of India.

It quoted Sen as saying that human development has a lot to do with gender equality and Bangladesh had forged far ahead of India on that count.

"Not too long ago, Bangladesh was behind India on all indices. Today Bangladesh is the only country with more girls than boys in schools. It has a higher life expectancy, lower mortality rates and more women in the labour force," Sen was quoted by the newspaper as saying.

Sen said that gender equality had become increasingly important in Bangladesh politics as well.

He slammed the Indian state for the way it has treated issues of human development, specially gender equality.

Talking about the furore over the recent incident of gang-rape in Delhi, Sen said it is getting all the attention because it has happened in an urban metropolis.

"But lower caste Dalit women have suffered this indignity all over the country's rural areas for a long, long time, almost day in and day out," Sen said.

Not only Bangladesh has more girls than boys in school, but also we achieved 100% enrollment in primary schools... Means we do not kill fetus for being Girl unlike a civilized country which is exploring MarS

What ever you are talking about India is in Massive scale and needs some time to achieve. We are heading in right direction though. India is heading for Mars and in future will explore Space and wants to become space power by 2020.

Bangladesh went ahead of India in all the human development indexes although it started late. A time will certainly come when the late comer BD will also go ahead of India in exploring Mars, while you will remain in your self-made quagmire of Jat Pat whereby a little higher caste Achyuts will be taking advantage of little lower caste women by manupulating their social position. Indian Police are not for the lower caste achyuts, but favours only the higher caste Achyuts. But, then all of you together are regarded rightfully a bunch of Achyuts by the entire world.

As usual some BS and insecurity from a BD. India is in its own league and is a giant which is in the process of becoming a super power.

There is no comparison between India and BD.
