Good post ...

Congrats !!! to Bangladesh for new achievment....

thanks for sharing this info...Does anyone have this 2030 blueprint???

Can somebody share this 2030 blueprint?

The 2030 blueprint hasn't published. The government just saying that they have a vision to develop Bangladesh Army to a modern force. They call it Vision 2030. But they haven't shared their plans.

Good to see the additional man power for the army, there is also talk of raising three additional battalions for the padma project. The increase in manpower will mean greater demand on the defence budget, we spend a lot less then most other SA countries, as a percentage of the GDP, and our expanding economy should mean we can afford to expand the armed forces without putting too much pressure on the rest of the economy.

This was expected, considering India is putting 90000 additional men close to the northern borders.

This is a good news indeed. We need more manpower in the army with equally better equipments. Does anyone have an idea regarding the strength of this new infantry division or their equipments?

As the inauguration is today, lets get some pics!

Cheers!!!

Generally a Division strength is about '15000' troops(can be a li'l more or less) and it consists of 3 brigades. Regarding weapons, it depends on their type. Like if its a strike division then it will have heavy armoured support or else li'l armoured support for defensive roles.

^ Makes sense. But i would look forward for concrete details regarding its equipments.

@BD posters - Any idea if the recent purchase of Otokar Cobras is aligned with raising this divisions?

Cheers!!!

Unlikely bro, theses is most prob a light infantry division based to the north, never been to the north of BD so can't say what the terrain is like, whether its conducive to armoured units or not. But they may receive a few, artillery, ATGW etc. the actual numbers should be around 14000 to about 15000.

Hmmm...for last few years BD has made consistent & rapid progress in development of its armed forces, civilian infrastructure, HDI, and economy; BD has become one of the fastest growing economies!!!

Very good job AL!

Congrats to BD & AL!! :)

I was also thinking of that.... the terrain there can only support a light division..... it may also have a riverine unit in it, since Sylhet area is full of swamplands...... and can you guess what happened to the commando brigade that was already there?

I think that's why they are building LCU’S.
