HAIER PAKISTAN BECOMES THE FIRST COMPANY TO ASSEMBLE LAPTOPS IN PAKISTAN.
03-10 2017

First Laptop Manufacturing Plant in Pakistan
Haier Pakistan has chalked up another achievement, becoming the first company in Pakistan to assemble laptops – a development that puts Pakistan on the road to acquiring the necessary expertise in the manufacture of hi-tech electronics. As a result Haier Pakistan has clinched a government order to supply locally assembled Haier brand laptops to the Higher Education Commission (HEC), a constitutionally established independent, autonomous body which oversees, regulates and funds initiatives in the higher education sector in Pakistan. The laptops will be given to shining students in the nation’s leading colleges and universities as part of the Prime Minister’s initiative for free laptops for shining students.

The laptops are being assembled at the sprawling Haier Ruba manufacturing facility in Lahore by highly trained Pakistani technicians working under the direct supervision of Chinese engineers. Haier Ruba, one of Pakistan’s largest industrial complexes spread over one million square feet and employing a workforce of thousands, has a designed capacity of 3 million units of high end home appliances and electronics including air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, small domestic appliances, LED television sets, mobile phones and laptops.

Says Javed Afridi, CEO of Haier Ruba Manufacturing unit, “the establishment of the laptop assembly plant marks yet another achievement for us and we, the Haier family are very proud of this”. He stressed that Haier Pakistan is the first company to assemble laptops here at home”, and added, “this achievement brings with it a huge responsibility which we intend to fulfill with great distinction and honor”.

The laptop assembly plant is a significant step for Pakistan in many ways – especially in terms of technology transfer, reducing the import burden on the country’s foreign exchange resources and in terms of poverty alleviation through job creation”.

Pakistan government pays high attention on Haier local assembly workshop and local assembly progress from the very beginning. Higher Education Commission, PM office, Technical Committee high level officers visited Haier laptop assembly workshop, gave valuable guide and advises to Haier local team, which helps Haier laptop assembly workshop keep going up and higher.

Over the years, PEL has formed alliances with several international giants, including General Electric, Fujitsu and Hitachi. The company also became the sole distributor of LG Corporation's home appliances in 2009. PEL operates in two segments - power and appliances. Only thing that is Pakistani in this list is PEL which doesn't do any mobile, laptop or that sort of product.

You can take a look at their production portfolio. There is no other South Asian electronics brand equal to their stature. We do have other electronics manufacturing companies but Walton is a heritage brand.
Please let us know about its product line, revenue, market share and number of employees :coffee:

Siemens and Haier are foreign companies.
Walton has far higher revenues than any Pakistani company.
Kindly let me know how many electric and electronic parts / items your so called indigenous company imports and distributes in Bangladesh :agree:

Usually you don’t even have plates, use makeshift banana leaf plates like Stone Age savages.

The culture of eating from Banana leaves comes from South India. We are eons ahead of BD in every indicator and GDP per capita.

They have quite decent R&D facilities and their production facility is equal to that of a mid size SEZ.

Btw going through their website, it looks like Walton has now started to design and manufacture elevators as well, it came as a surprise.

Good going. :-)
Till now almost 100% off the elevators were imported from countries like South Korea & China. Due to this facto, low quality & unsafe products has entered the market which is a threat to public safety.

If they provide log term after sales service Walton's investment will surely make them good profit. I hope they will go for escalator production in future.

Your Walton makes medicines and vaccines for infants and mothers?

You really have some beef with Bd... Let them have fun in their corner/forum :lol:...but you're amazing..just have some pity on them.

Bhaisaab you have to connect with reality at some point. The time when anyone could pity us is gone. That ship has sailed long ago...:-)

Even as an outsider you have to see that we have done more in social and inclusive development with half of India's GDP. And with corruption which is (I'd posit) twice what they have.

And their flimsy excuse is they are a 'juggernaut' country. Which is bizarre.

Sach baat sach raheey....

BTW - for a country our size, we have done very well with Pharma as well.
