Don't know the place well, but somewhere between Slaughter house and Mosque road. Mosque road, I remember clearly. There was a jalebi dukaan that gave us some temporary shelter.

Yeah I was new in town then. A few friends stayed there. All Kashmiris. Most moved to HSR now. There's a wazwan restaurant now near BDA HSR as well.

I traveled across Karnataka, never had language issue. I know few words like 'oota aitha', ' illa, vartha illa', not much time to learn Kannada but you can learn few Kannada words from bus conductors.

I am in bangalore for the past 1st year. I dont know hindi or kannada. With local people always interacting in tamil, most of them knows tamil well, I never had a problem for not knowing kannada.

People of Karnataka are quite friendly. This must be a rare case. I have never had a problem myself. In Delhi on the other hand I was often called Pakistani

Just some local thugs trying to shake down a non-local (easy mark they would have figured)for money for booze I would guess. This not an organised group. Out of a population of some 10 million, there are bound to be some thugs. Unlike some other states, there is no organised group acting against non-locals.

My unkind observations is that most kannadigas are cowards who do not resort to physical violence which is why I take such news with a grain of salt
