Bajaj to build a plant in Bangladesh

.
why so ???

Well the government discourages any bike from being imported or manufactured that exceeds 150cc, for law enforcement reasons. Walton and Runners would love to develop bikes above 450cc, but the gov has always banned them.

The most you can import or build are 150cc bikes, there are loads of choice in that range. Imported bikes tend to be more expensive because of the duty, and as the market at this low end is very price sensitive, bajaj is going to find it very difficult.

The major investor in this project is the Uttara Group, they are the primary sales agents and partner for bajaj in BD but they have found it difficult to compete with local producers like Walton and Runners because they already have a well established sales and support network, mordern range of bikes and price advantage due to the duty levied.

Chinese, korean and japanese producers are in talks to build factories in BD, mostly they are thinking ahead, to take advantage of low production and labor costs for future export markets. Although the market is growing fast, if all these factories come online there is going to be a huge overproduction.

why so ???

Oh also they watched Dhoom, so no fast bike allowed.....

Developing 8 (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation

What we need is a D-8 supported association of Motorcylce industries and dealerships in these countries to pool resources and then create a common design center lets say in Turkey to come up with a common design for engines of different sizes and other parts. This design then can be shared and periodically upgraded when quality problems are found in the market. D-8 is the perfect mechanism for us to utilize a bigger virtual internal market and then use that as a spring board to capture other market such as India. And if India does not allow our products and put up non-tariff barriers then we can reciprocate by creating same or similar non-tariff barriers for Indian products in Bangladesh.

Bangladeshi motorcycle assemblers and manufacturers:

Atlas Bangladesh Ltd.

Runner Automobiles Ltd.
Singer Bangladesh
China's Haojue bikes hit roads
Karnaphuli Industries & Reason Behind High Price of Yamaha Motorcycle In Bangladesh - BikeBD

Walton, Runner and other local manufacturers should also make an effort to sell in India and if they face non-tariff barrier, they should raise this issue with govt. to implement similar non-tariff barrier for Indian motorcycles in Bangladesh.

Ha! I'm happy that our eastern neighbours will finally have the chance to buy quality motorbikes.

You are wrong. BD people already use Indian motor bikes, which are made in India. Now, we will buy a Bajaj product that will be made in Bangladesh..Hope, you will understand the distinction.

So you've already had a taste of quality! Good. Indian product partly manufactured in Bangladesh - I hope you understand the difference. This is good for bd.

What the ****? all of us can only sell bikes for pussy in your country? 150 cc limitation?

.
Well i am sure bajaj makes great bikes, shame they'll never see the light of day in BD. Only bikes upto 150cc are allowed, so no ss400 or cs400, just ordinary ones thàts all.

Bajaj Discover then

maybe even old pulsar for bd market -

. .
bajaj should take help of RAW for destroying BD local companies and then establish complete monopoly :D

.
Bajaj should focus more on Export Zones. that way their stuff can get exported back to India or elsewhere with better duty terms. because i don't think Bangladeshis will buy the crap.

but then, there is BAL that basically thinks and works like an Indian political party. they are capable of draining Bangladesh's public money to allow these companies to operate

it will still be hard to sell that crap in your colonized eastern neighbour

Well, we'll just have to see wait and see how quickly you swallow your own words because the way I see it, bongoloids will be lapping up Bajaj bikes like there's no tomorrow.
