Two posters in another Forum said they saw four units of 6-wheeler FM-90s and a very large/long vehicle. Bangladesh Biman Bahini was inscribed on each of them, and a BAF mini bus was carrying BAF personnels in it.

What does that mean?? another type SAM??

BD must build a military that India will think twice before attacking us. There is a plan for 2030 and that is a good target to aim to make BD a militarily strong nation.

BD will maintain cordial relations whenever possible but it cannot become a client state. Anyways a BD with a 200 million population in the future should be able to be a power in it's own right as long as the economy keeps growing at current rates.

By 2050 along with India BD will be in top 10 to 15 countries in the world demographically and economically. Its not only India but our interest is growing beyond the border of sub continent as well. The military should grow and should project to the growing interest of our country. We are a peace loving country and will do our best to minimize any tension amicably. But that does not mean that we will not use force if attacked or our interest is compromised.

Pakistan is a different country had different views and interest and nothing to do with us.

yup but this mid-range SAM were in initial plan with those fm-90 so far i know! yet i dont expect them so early!

Thats a long way to go... Indeed Bangladeshis are peace loving people... and no one is attacking you either... India has never maintained any Military buildup along its Bangladeshi, Nepal, Bhutan boarders most of the times people from Nepal and Bangladesh tend to cross over same from Indian side.... Hence there is no intention of attacking you... India have never has any such intentions for any country and History speaks that for you... good to see the military development... However I would like to see BD acting smart and behaving like a good little brother of India and wisely not spend much on Military.... keep growing and when you have sufficient financial muscle go for the Bigger gun which can really hit the enemy hard.

If want to dream... Dream Big....

Such a system can be available for the purchase of BD military by 2015-2020... depending on the economic conditions.

I have seen it near biswa road rail crossing......only if I had a camera with me. I was totally overwhelmed at first, the road was miraculously jam-free after Eid...and suddenly my eyes fall on these babies...that was indeed a great view.

Good explanation, indeed! But even multi-layered AM/AA/ADS or offensive ability to some extents wouldn't make defense impregnable, as disproportion tilts in Bharati's favor by a gigantic margin. So, should we give up on building our defensive shields? Hell no! For yrs., I have been promoting for NATO type military alliance of Muslim countries that would supplement the individual power of 52 countries.

There shouldn't be any stone unturned on continuously building defensive shields along with offensive ability. And the lowest possible denominator should be drawn on 52 country's ability for alliance should step in. FM-90s along with HQ-9s and A-100 Batteries would be a good start then shooting for BVR capable JF-17 complemented by ZDK-03 type AWACS would be the next step to achieve some sorts of tangible deterrence IMO.

I definitely would back up Jf-17s because let's face it, we can afford only that. Thinking about Sukhois and Migs really drives us crazy,but the way they eat up money...I don't think its worth it. We do not have strong enough economy to support Sukhois. Besides we are not going after enemy, but we will be defending our homeland. So Jf-17s should just do the work for our airspace.

I am however interested to stick with China for medium range missiles as well, after all reliability does matter.

Small countries like ours are inconsequential when it comes to any threat to them (NATO nations). We might as well look to it given that wallet allows. Considering the technology they have, it might be worth it!

Also, Turkey (a NATO member) is going to produce a good number of F-35 parts
