Hmm ok but what about power? I think this was one of the reasons for it to be considered for block 3 as by than a more powerful chinese domestic engines would be matured enough to be used in JF-17.

3$million is FOB cost of RD-93.

this will not cover even the production cost only the RD-93 engine as per official disclosure costed $ 4.1 million to Pakistan in the year 2015.

Add this amount with Air-frame, Avionics, Weapon package, Spare supplies, Data link and secure communication package etc. etc cost, should cost at least $ 25 million for production only if not more

Azeris have asked for an aircraft (blk-2) overloaded with technologies. It would be Blk-2 plus (go through the thread first)..it will cost them around 30 million each exceeding the market prize of Blk-2 ie 25 million max.
So total aircrafts will cost them about 720 million for 24 aircrafts..... without maintenance, spares, training and perhaps weapons contracts in long term serviceability.

In total it should exceed 1 billion mark easily! in my view.

A Middle Eastern country bought f16 with just 2 missile per aircraft and very few weapons and followed it with a separate order of weapons etc

Guessing Azeri may buy jf with weapons from turkey ??

Another feather in PAC's cap! Reading the news article, it states Block II JF-17s are being ordered, which will be great as PAC lines will keep humming along while the PAF finalizes and put the Block III through its paces.

Also, I would add that people don't get confused with the wording in the article. The mention of AESA radars are just to state that the aircraft will have it eventually, not that the Azeri jets will have it. Also, since there has been no AESA radar equipped examples, I don't think PAF could have marketed a paper product to them. So it will definitely be Block II aircraft, which is more than enough for their air force that does not face advance threats like the PAF does.

Couple that with costs, it makes sense for them to buy a product that is already in service and its capabilities tested and proven in PAF service. PAC also makes the Chinese radar locally which is be an additional bonus for us in cutting down costs as well as making additional money on the deal as any AESA radar would have to be sourced directly from China at the moment.

All in all a great 2019 ahead for Thunder and Pakistan inshallah

yes, Azerbaijan will be using SOM and Tubitak SAGE guided munition

I think Pakistan cannot sell RAAD to Azerbaijan because of high range of RA'AD it is not allowed to export and Azebaijan will use SOM.
