Azerbaijan & Turkey signs arms deals
Azerbaijan and Turkey have today signed two deals on the joint production of guns, infantry rifles and mortar launchers.
Azerbaijan's minister of the defence industry, Yaver Jamalov, and Turkish Defence Minister Vecdi Gonul signed the first accord on the joint production of a 105-mm gun and modern infantry rifle in Turkish enterprises.
The second agreement was signed by Turkey's state-owned Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKEK) and Azerbaijan's Ministry of the Defence Industry. Farrukh Vazirov, head of the defence technology cooperation department, signed on behalf of the ministry, while Director General Unal Onsahioglu signed on behalf of MKEK.
The agreement envisages the joint production of MKEK-designed 120-mm mortar launchers.
