Azerbaijan and Turkey to organize joint production of three weapons

Azerbaijan is planning to realize the projects of production of weapons together with Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation of Turkey, Azerbaijani Defense Industry Minister Yaver Jamalov told in his exclusive interview.

To him, expert group of Azerbaijani Defence Industry Ministry will leave for Turkey in the near future and visit institutions of Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation.

Negotiations on production of 3 weapons will be conducted within this framework. At the same time we will establish a joint institution in Azerbaijan which will produce 12,7 mm calibre weapons, said the minister.

Jamalov noted that perspectives of cooperation in defense sphere were discussed during the meeting with Turkish Defense Minister Vacdi Gonul held on May 11. Azerbaijan will attend several Turkish military projects.

Yesterday, Minister of national defence, Vecdi Gonul offered Azerbaijan to join into Altay MBT, T-129 Atak and TIHA-A programs at SOFEX 2010. Today, Azerbaijani minister told that Azerbaijan will join several defence programs of Turkey...

I hope Azerbaijan join our Development Efforts anf for the future I hope Turkey become a main Weapon Supplier in the eurasian, central Asian Region. All Turkic States and Pakistan need to standardize their Military Eqipment, that they have the Capabillity to conduct joint Operations.

Azerbaijan will buy Turna target drones from Turkey. APA reports quoting the military sources in Turkey that discussions are being held on this issue. Azerbaijani servicemen visited Turkey several times and learned the usage and technical maintenance of the target drones. These target drones have been created to increase the air defense skills. Turkeys TAI company is producing the drones. Turna is used to pursue radar, optical, remote controlled weapons.
