Award for Hasina - French university to honour her for democracy

Really; even after staying a open society like USA/UK; minds of some of these islamic scumbags is filled with hatred for non-muslims... I really fail to understand mindset of these people.

Religious nutcases are usually hypocrites from my experience. Whenever in a forum, I usually ignore them. In real life however, I do confront them.

And frankly, I don't see how a person's religion can be tied to his work and legacy.

Both Tagore and Nazrul Islam were great poets, song writers and authors. And they are iconic figures in Bangladeshi society and culture.

Ah, makes sense.

Well, I am not really a religious person. I don't even read religious posts.

Good for you.

Although I can say that Al-Zakir is clearly displaying intolerance.

You are hurting my feeling although you are merely criticizing me. I have been through worse. I am a defender of Islam and it's culture, and I am proud of my stance. I will always raise my voice against those try to import Bengali Hindu culture in the name Bangla culture in Muslim Bangladesh. There is no room for Hinduani culture in Islam. One of the main reason I hate Hasina and Awami is because it has been sponsoring Hindu Bengali culture in the name of Bangla culture since the operation although it has been facing stiff resistance from us after the revolution of 75.

Islam is not a country, it is a religion. Some people out there just couldn't get that fact in their heads.

Perhaps but there is something called "Islamic Ummah'.

Could you write more coherently so that one can understand?

Without the verbs and articles, it is very difficult to get what is wanted to be understood.

Don't worry about it.

which 'Ummah' you are talking about?

Is that the 'love' between Iran and Arab countries? or the one out of which Bangladesh was carved out from brotherly Pakistan? may be the 'Ummah' by which most of middle eastern countries have banned bangladeshis to enter?

Good for you.

I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. From experience, I have come to realize that accepting criticism is one of the requirements for success in pretty much anything in life. Tolerance is very important.

My point was that I don't understand how poets can be compared to one another just because of their religion. Well, I don't pay much heed to their works since I am not a great fan of the stuff.

I am consider myself as a liberal Capitalist. I have many reasons to dislike Hasina and her party of criminals. The AL has been that way right from the beginning. Law & order is worst than ever right now, and always happens whenever the AL comes to power.

Islamic Ummah? Well, it is in The Koran, and I am certain that you have seen the reality of the 'Islamic world'? Teeny weeny Israel caused sh*t to hit the fan throughout the entire Muslim world!

I don't see any unity there to be honest. The Saudis even begged America to bomb Iran. Yeah, literally BEGGED - get it? Nothing "Islamic" about the events of 1971 either. It is also a question of leadership as well after the days of WWII and even now.

I would rather work towards a better world regardless of religion, ethnicity or skin color now and the future. That is my idea of unity.

1.In an academic Forum, discussions are best if the discussants remain civil.

2. There is a difference between "banned" and "nearly banned".

3. "Melechha" and "Jabon" are used in several writings of Tagore referring to Muslims. In our country we read Tagore throughout our academic career. You probably don't.

Okay please refer to the incident when it was nearly banned?

Once again, since you an aficionado of Tagore, it shouldn't be a problem to you to quote the verses where Tagore used those terms else it would seem you're deliberately indulging in character assassination.

The terms like 'several places', 'nearly banned' make your argument rather weak and obfuscate!
