Having deep sea port is a nation need and has nation support? Answer is yes.

AL ministerial meeting rejected PPP proposal which is different than Chinese proposal. Chinese ambassador confirmed that too. China interested in BOT not PPP.

Awami regime was fine with PPP term and was ready to sign MOU. See the news.

Then came Manmohan Singh and things got changed. Awami regime suddenly decided lets find an excuse and stop the project. So they came up with flimsy excuse they want BOT instead of PPP at the last moment.

Here is what Chinese Ambassador has to say about Awami regime last minutes switching excuse:

"Two Chinese companies have expressed their desire to develop the port but the ball is now not in the court of the Chinese side," he said at a roundtable on Bangladesh-China bilateral relations organised by Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) in the city.

"We recently knew that Bangladesh wanted to develop the port under PPP model, and we are interested to build it under BOT or BOOT system," he said.

Awami regime rejected the project not because China wanted BOT. Awami regime surely knew China wanted BOT then why try to pass the project proposal under PPP? Just so it can be rejected?

So clearly Awami regime tactics here is switching between flimsy excuses and keep the project at bay.
