It's just Australia being a loyal puppy helping the master creating drama in the South China sea when there are too peaceful to be in the news. Some countries need constant threat imagined or created by their own just to legitimize their presence in the South China Sea. It's also part of the propaganda scheme overall to manufacture more China threat stories.

The capability of those Australian warships is not really important as they know nothing would happen to them, there are no threats from Chinese side. They are the one who provoke China and then cry China bully them in the media. The objective is just smearing China as much as possible as the bad guy.

BEIJING, Apr. 20 (ChinaMil) -- The recent Australian media report that Australian warships were "challenged" by the Chinese military in South China Sea in early April did not accord with the facts, said the information office of China's Ministry of National Defense (MND) in a written statement on Friday.

"The Chinese naval warships encountered the Australian warships in the South China Sea on April 15. The Chinese side used professional language to communicate with the Australian side, and their operations were lawful, in compliance, professional and safe,” said the statement.
