What's new

Australia will pay around $US60 million

countries must wait to see the real performance of the F-35 before they jump on the bandwagon, the trend it has been recently following is not a good one. Even LM is not looking very confident for the first time. There are some serious question marks on the capability of this jet, its huge price reductions are very fishy.

$ 60 mill seems wierd. Thats cheaper than the latest order of 42 Flankers India is buying from Russia (for $3 bill or so). What are we missing here>>??

.
but why would slaf buy such a jet, its threat perception is different . it would be a waste of money.

I think Srilanka is a sovereign and a responsible nation. Why we neighbors are so worried that it would be waste of money or not. Let it be their choice what they can afford or what cant. By the way it was just his wish who is going to sell SL F-35s?:smokin:

As i said in my other post, they are cheap for Australia because Australia put millions into the development program of the F-35.

Well even Australia is not getting the F-35 anytime soon.... They have to settle for the Rhinos for the time being.

Sri Lanka atleast try to get F-35, US$ 60 Million per F-35 is not a big issue for Sri Lanka.

But the question is if USA ready to sell the F-35 jets to Sri Lanka.

And why would Sri Lanka need the likes of the F-35? Or should I say what threat is it facing to need such an aircraft?

It has been posted and articles linked many times before. That the price tag for the F-35 would be more in line with the price tag of the current generation F-16 or F-18. All the hyped price tags before were from critics of the program that used overall development costs. Not what the actual production line costs were going to be. The press fell for it hook line and sinker and trumpeted price tags from 120 - 200 million a plane. And most everyone believed it. An exception will be for the Israeli purchase becuase they want to add their own avionics.

But why would Sirlanka buy F-35 while it dont have any past experience with American Aircraft, and also Sirlanka dont have a decent 4th generation Aircraft they are only handful of MiG-27s, why jump to 5th generation already??

I think you guys shud go for J-10 like us, at the moment:tup:
