What's new

Australia to buy up to 5 Virginia class submarines in landmark agreement between Washington, Canberra, and London

Maybe China should arm NK with a couple of nuke subs? Tit for tat?

There are no new nukes.... It is nuclear powered attack submarines, they do not carry ballistic nuclear weapons!! The delivery date mid to late 30's......I think China will have do something to counter this ? I dunno what Beijing can do unfortunately are isolated by regional countries. Biggest prob.

.
Think they were cleared for 12 F-35B, I could be wtong on this, so don't quote me on it.

The thing is, Canberra Class get the RAN people all talking about fix wing capability, they are eyeing a bigger LHD that can serve as a light carrier as well, most likely 30-40,000 ton class.

At 20knots it’s extremely slow, was it designed to operate at that speed? Australians is surrounded by islands and you need an amphibious capability with these two ships. you have an amphibious capability, and to have y them available at all times , so maybe you should get an U.K. ELIZABETH aircraft carrier? Not crippling this much needed capability. Remember you can’t always go to war on ferries like how you got to East Timor.

They basically have no real military ally in their own neighbourhood. Even north Korea don't listen to them . Lol Actually I sympathise with China. They have a very tough task being surrounded by US military installations around their own region, and to make things worse, they don't have a real ally to rely on, meanwhile the US has allies and bases throughout the region. Again this shows their foriegn policy has not been very fruitful in this regard, in fact I'll say their foriegn policy has been quite passive and I understand why to be honest. Hard to see how they could have acted differently.

Lol North Korea already have their own subs and it doesn't change anything to be honest since what the US and her allies have is far more advancedthan anything they have.
In fact North Korea itself doesn't even listen to China much. This young fat Kim is far more radical than his father's regime(who was abit more closer to China) . Young fat Kim massacred his own uncle and other pro Chinese elements in his regime. The dude basically does what he wants. China can't do much than to just powerlessly tolerate him. In short, North Korea today has kinda taken China hostage, since fat Kim knows that no matter what he does China can't go fully hostile towards North Korea for obvious reasons. So China is kinda in a catch 22 situation with North Korea today. Lol Moroever North Korea serves as a perfect excuse for the US to get involved even more militarily in East Asia in South Korea and Japan, and it helps the the US bring South Korea and Japan closer under a trilateral military alliance with exchange of information/similar network thus nullifying any reluctance and historical hostility South Korea has against Japan, North Korea makes South Korea unable to really focus their attention on Japan, since the North Korean threat is far more credible and ever present for South Korea compared to anything South Korea might have against Japan. 😁

I’m pretty sure no Asia country want to bite that bait except Japan and South Korea for oblivious reason , at most Asia they gonna be neutral. Indonesia and Malaysia don't see this positively. Indo Pacific is not decided by AUKUS. Asean have said they don't take sides (apart from Philipines who take all sides. Lol , I read it online I don’t know how much of this is correct?

well, yeah, they wanted to test fix wing capability and that would be a good start on the Canberra, it was designed with ski jump to begin with so they can load a squadron if they have strengthen the deck.

But then it's no open secret RAN is looking at 40k ton class LHD that can do the job properly. I don't think that's a QE Class in mind, but it would be another Navantia ship class (but double the dimension) or a USS America class look alike, QE Class is simply too big, we don't have many port in Oz can support that.

It depends. US ally in the region is Japan, SK, Philippine, Singapore, Australia and to more or less Taiwan. That's enough to stop all the sea route into the Pacific (also with US held Island, lik Guam, Midway, and Hawai'i) but it won't do much to Indian Ocean, where India, Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia probably could play a role.

The problem is that might change if and when China uses force to recover Taiwan, it will be more or less like Russia invade Ukraine which was their Slavic brother, and after the Xi said "Chinese don't fight Chinese" neutral country may get spooked in the region, top of my list will turn if China invade Taiwan is Vietnam, and then most likely Malaysia.

Australia is indulging itself in unnecessary war USA wants other nation fight their war with china and USA takes as less damage as it can it's their famous war policy these countries should learn from history
Maybe perhaps China shouldn't fall into that trap in fighting Australia then.

I don't care what's happening in your delusional fantasies, spambot. I only care about reality.
Reality is that China doesn't like it when Japan wants cruise missiles or have THAAD or Australia getting new long range submarines.

Maybe China should arm NK with a couple of nuke subs? Tit for tat?
Just remember that the U.S. lift the range limitations on South Korea's ballistic missiles in response to North Korea's.
