Australia eyes defence business in India

Oh please stop the BS ....If Australia was so concerned about nukes why did sign an Uranium agreement with China, who has actively supported North Korea and Pakistan nuke programs!

Because China has signed the NPT and is not going to use the uranium to make any new nukes, how many more times do i need to explain it? Use your head.

.
Further proves you have not read the NPT. The NPT stops the creation of new nukes, IT DOES NOT ban countries from having nukes as you claim with your statement "My objection to NPT is with the fact that 5 countries are allowed to have Nuclear weapons whereas other nations are not allowed."

As i said, please go read the NPT, so you fully understand it.

The U.S has signed the NPT, so the U.S cannot make anymore nukes, the same with every other nuclearn ation except the 3 i pointed out above who have not signed.

NPT does not prevent the US from making new nukes. The NPT basically prevents anyone from possession nuclear weapons who did not test the bomb before 1968. In exchange for this you get uranium and nuclear technologies for nuclear power generation. As India did not test before 1968 she will have to give up her nukes.

India also will NOT use 'imported Uranium' to make new nukes. That's the deal India signed with NSG when they allowed India to import Uranium for 'safeguarded nuclear reactors'.

Actually segregation of civil and military nuclear reactors enabled India to come into NSG's term. Also I see nothing wrong in Australia's policy of not selling Uranium to non-NTP countries, but don't come up with weird logic that NTP will make a nuclear free world without knowing all facts. If anything NTP does, it's prevent the world from being a nuke free planet. Period.

If world leaders really want to make the world nuke free, let us make a treaty which calls for destruction of all nukes in possession of every country. I'm sure India will happily sign the deal. You can't have your cake and eat it too!

I never once said "it will get rid of all the nukes in the world" You made that up yourself.

Because US, Russia, France and Canada are obviously not serious about getting rid of nuclear weapons, my country is.

Australia is committed to getting rid of all nuclear weapons in the world and is committed to stopping new weapons being created.

As the subject being discussed is NTP, so it's logically to assume that by not doing business with non-NTP country with clean record wrt proliferation, Australia hoping to get rid of nuclear weapons. So although you haven't say exactly the same phrase, you meant it nevertheless.

Anyway, now it seems we both agree that NTP won't get rid of nuclear weapons, the discussion can carry on from this mutually agreed point onwards.

But is clearly obvious that the treaty isn't going to get rid of all the nukes in the world, so such an assumption that you made, was rather silly :)

What and who are you talking about? Nothing you said is related to what this topic is about.

The bottom line is actually very simple. Unless the present Australian government changes its position & agrees to sell Uranium to India, the relationship between the two countries will continue to be in a low level equilibrium. Australian companies are extremely unlikely to even get a look-in into the Indian defence scene.

Listen signing the NPT doesn't mean **** if you keep on proliferating. If Australia had some values they would see thru the smoke and stand firm in their "values." So let me make this clear, because China signed the NPT they are entitled to Uranium, even they proliferate Nuke tech??? I'm using my head and I still don't get it. Do you?

Extensive PR, few newspaper articles, lobbying will help Aussie Govt to change their stance. ;-)

What are you talking about? Did you not read the article? Why claim such silly things?

That's the biggest load of crap i have ever heard. The relationship between our two countries is rather high. You act as if you are part of the Indian government and you are making up it's foreign policy, your not lol.

Australian companies are extremely unlikely to even get a look-in into the Indian defence scene.
Clearly the companies are, as the original posters article says they are. You are not the Indian government, so don't post delusional posts acting as if you are part of the government making up policies and saying who will trade in India and who won't.

What a joke

I understand what the NPT is, you don't.
