Basically what happened is they come to do something and as a naturally "pussied" nation's "Pussied" pilot ran back and in order to run faster for not being shot they had to drop the payload in a hurry and ran back...great adventure, make a bollywood movie on this bravery now.

Cross posting from the other thread:

Per google earth, a straight line from Balakot to a random location on the LoC is 42.2KM.

Mirage top speed of 2000KM/Hr or 33.3KM per minute.

Even if not at top speed and not necessarily the shortest distance between Balakot and the LoC, the 3/4 minute incursion time makes sense.

Corrections welcome.

Even if I consider this explanation to be true it still says that IAF crossed over at Muzzafarabad. From there how can they "drop their payload" (your DG ISPR words) 60-70 KM Southwest rather than 10-20 KM north?

Isn't it more likely that Balakot is the city in KPK rather than a small village on LoC which would take much longer to reach from Muzzafarabad
See my post above.

RAWALPINDI: Indian Air Force violated airspace along the Line of Control (LoC) late on Monday, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR) said.

Indian Air Force violated airspace along the Line of Control (LoC), Pakistan Air Force immediately responded to deal with an emergency situation and forced the Indian planes to return to their territory.

Major General Asif Ghafoor, spokesperson Pakistan Armed Forces, in a post on his official Twitter account, stated that the Indian Air Force violated Line of Control. Pakistani Air Force "immediately scrambled", causing the Indian planes to return to their country.

In an other tweet, DG ISPR said that Indian aircrafts intruded from Muzafarabad sector, which faced timely and effective response from Pakistan Air Force.

Indian planes released payload in haste while escaping which fell near Balakot. No casualties or damage occurred, said DG ISPR.

Earlier on the day, Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan had expressed satisfaction on the readiness of Pakistan Armed Forces, saying: "Pak forces are fully prepared for a befitting response to any Indian aggression or misadventure.”

Last week, The DG ISPR held a press conference in Rawalpindi, during which he reiterated Prime Minister Imran Khan's proposal of talks to Delhi.

Pakistan and India's relations have been tense since the Pulwama attack on February 14.

Eyewitness account

Villagers in the area said only one person was wounded in the attack and they knew of no fatalities, reported Reuters.

From what villagers could see, the Indian attack had missed its supposed target as the bombs dropped exploded about a kilometre away from any structure.

Mohammad Ajmal, a 25 year-old villager in the area, where the attack took place, said he had heard four loud bangs in succession just before 3:00am.

“We couldn’t tell what had happened. It was only in the morning that we figured out it was an attack,” he told Reuters after visiting the site, in a wooded hilltop area.

“We saw fallen trees and one damaged house, and four craters where the bombs had fallen.”

Fida Hussain Shah, a 46 year-old farmer, said he and other villagers had found pieces of Indian ordnance that had splintered pine trees on the hill but the only casualty was a man sleeping in his house when shrapnel broke the windows.

Defence Analyst Views

Brigadier (retd) Asad Munir echoed the same opinion. “The IAF should have footage from the aircraft that dropped the bombs – they should release the visuals to back their claim.”

Munir pointed out that even the Indian media was using images shared by ISPR. “Why did their foreign secretary not entertain questions in the press conference? Even the Indian side is confused about the location of the ‘attack’.”

...

Observing that the images from the site issued by the ISPR did not show remnants of an explosion, Hussain suggested the possibility that the bomb may have ‘malfunctioned’ or the IAF pilot “may have forgotten to turn off the safety switch before unloading it.”

He maintained that both Pakistan and India have strong air defence. “The two sides are able to carry out swift surprise air raids within 30 kilometres of the border without being intercepted by the adversary’s fighters that are on ground alert,” he said.

“The misconception about immediate response has to be demystified. A fighter jet flies at the speed of 1000s of kilometres per hour – it can reach the target area within minutes. The response time for a fighter jet to reach incursion site varies from at least five to 10 minutes.”

“It is impossible to counter the attack, however, we can retaliate,” he explained. “Be it Pakistan, India or even the United States – no country can have fighter aircraft on watch 24/7. It is too costly.”

The damage according to DG ISPR is almost non-existent. So it should not be a concern. What IS a concern is our utter inability to counter what is a narrative built out of pure lies by India. They are describing swimming pools and shooting ranges at the terrorist camp!!!! And we can't even counter that?

you dont need to counter the lies, their own people dont believe them, they are on a humiliation spree and doing blunder after blunder

@Joe Shearer @Sam. @Nilgiri It is very amazing to note the similarity of occurrences that do not seem to have occurred at all in both the US strike at Abottabad and the strike yesterday.

The gaps are so easily available to 'exploit' ..... Tigers took off from their home base, went slightly inside, released their Spice 2000s, with Balakot in KPK as the target of most importance, and returned.

Standby for more.

Such gaps exist on both sides, please keep in mind.

Absolutely no similarities Vibrio. The US operation was far more involved and risky. US forces flew from Afghanistan across Pakistan in choppers, deployed troops, neutralized target and left without being detected.

The Indian approach was detected on radar, PAF fighters scrambled (Balakot is approx 42.2KM from the LoC, so a minute or 2 max for IAF to be within range), IAF drops bombs on what appears to have been empty forest and area and retreats when challenged by PAF. Everything done in 3/4 minutes.

Yes, it's their bread and butter, but you can't change the ground realities:

1. Detection on radar.
2. Assessment of whether scramble is needed
3. Scramble orders issued
4. Time to get Scramble airborne
5. Time for Scramble to get within engagement range

Were those steps followed? Yes, and the fact that the incursion was limited to a few minutes would indicate that the response time was good. Any further improvements would require an LR SAM battery to engage while CAP was getting within engagement range.

oo bhai aap ko baat samaj nahi arahe woh pagal hay dubara aye gay aap LR SAM apnay sanmbhaal kar rakhain unhonay jo karna tha kardiya u failed to do except scrambled u failed to dhootdown ur air defense fuckedup now ub ball aap ki court may hay kay aap kia kartay hain likin mujse likealain.. woh aap ko ye b nahi karnay dengay lol

Because as the DG ISPR already said, they were only cleared to fire if military installations were actually targeted.

Let me clarify something here. @waz you might want to read it as well.

You guys go on the internet and search how many times Russian aircraft violated Turkish airspace, how each time NATO did nothing, until finally Turkey took a unilateral step to shoot down the Russian aircraft. Nations don't just shoot enemy aircraft on day 1. A narrative is built, precedent is set, and a pattern is determined. Only after repeat violations does a nation decide to shoot down an enemy aircraft.
WTF you and DG-ISPR mean by military installation ?????????? What if IAF decided to bomb National Assambly ??

Assuming a Hi-Lo-Hi profile to avoid early detection, your calculations seem to be entirely correct. Here in Greece, we use the M2000(-5) in this mission profile too. The mean speed when moving at NOE altitude is around 500 knots. Given the distance, the whole affair would be presumably over in less than 5'.

Which is the ideal for this type of mission, after all.

you cannot shoot an air plane coming few KM inside your border, unless you are in the state of war, Pakistan govt should declare we are in the state of war with India to give them a message next time few feet inside and you will be shot.
even if that plan is coming from enemy land and when you are on red alert ??????? Thanks God IAF did not bombes any strategic installation...….

What do we hit? Do the same thing as the IAF and drop some bombs in uninhabited areas?
