Whether the give us or not, it doesn't matter. Our nuclear trade is full fledged going on with even western European countries like France and even Canada for civil nuke tech.

One small thing....we get voting rights with membership.

A say is a feel-good thing. I don't know why we Indians are so desperate to be a part of western bloc and its influenced bodies so fast.

Two years ago, MMS regime was begging and rolling on the floor to become a part of the UNSC. Then this came along now. Listen, as long as we have our interests served, as long as we can build nuke plants to produce power and create jobs, as long as we can develop our nuclear military arsenal with advanced thermonuclear warheads and global strike capable missiles, we should not care a damn.

Even if tomorrow Europe is half of our GDP in few years, even then they won't consider us as equals.

We should simply do our thing and let them come to us.

Trade is trade. Let's stick to that.

The point is, even if they don't let us join NSG, it doesn't matter anymore. Once thorium reactor tech goes critical, it frees our nuclear reserves and even imports for further enrichment and military use.

GOI recently agreed to allow IAEA inspectors to come into our civilian nuclear sector, which was like an Indian concession to IAEA and NSG. Once they find our civil program is completely isolated from our military, they have nothing to placate us. While for obvious reasons they cannot access our military managed nuclear side.

Technically, it is right now beneficial to get us into good books. And without any enmity, we always welcome it.

Every country uses carrot and stick method mate.

It is just that one must be strong enough to eat the carrots and break the stick if the need comes.

They know our Thorium research tech is reactor is almost done,This technology was put on the backburner for 10 years in Congress rule at the behest of USA to please them,remember the cryo engine tech that USA sabotaged in 90's using its spies to stall our development for 14 years, this was the same ploy, if you saw the videos of old retired scientists who were pursuing cold fusion technology and thorium research, most of them were dead or those who are alive changed and called research of those technologies as wild goose chase,Those who could be bribed were bribed, those who couldnt be bribed were killed.
They are offering us carrot as they know even if they dont we will either way get thorium reactor running.So why not be in India good books than be seen as its enemy.

While you are correct, I would disagree with one point.
Western Institutions are here to stay and won't go away anytime soon. Let's not be AK49 of the world. Additional safeguards could at most hamper our ability by say 1/2 war heads a year. Not an Issue. If we get voting rights at NSG we can affect a lot of things including any possible unforeseen technological development in the field.

We will trade in nuclear tech even if we dont get membership.
We need membership for one reason -it will be an official recognition of India being a nuclear power state. apart from that once India is in , Pakistan can forget about ever becoming a member

Additional safeguards are not hampering anything. We are only allowing additional safeguards on civilian programme. The IAEA won't be allowed to even look at the military programs.

Please remember that there will definitely be something we will have to give up in order to be a part of NSG as there is always an exchange.

NSG was created to keep India tied down. There was no group like that before 1975 Smiling Buddha.

Such groups always come with their own conditions.

And the way they have been all these years, I don't think anything will be conducive to India.
