The problem is you can live a very nice lifestyle in the US...but you have to work for it. It doesn't come for free. However a low quality life on government assistance is free.

You can drive around and see kilometer after kilometer of nice homes and people with nice "things". You can watch tv shows with people surrounded by nice "things".

There are unfortunately some who do not take seriously their future when they are young. They honestly believe things will "just work out" and magically "fall into place" given time as this is the US and my "entitlement". These people DOOM themselves for LIFE early with this thinking.

You really have to be careful in the US because to live that nice lifestyle you need to be fully alert of the road most others took to get there...and make sure you get on that road...pronto. The people living these nice lifestyles are likely either self-employed private business owners or college educated workers.

Not being on that road can lead you to a life of low wage jobs and housing in low wage neighborhoods...which probably has above average crime.

This is something that truly frightens the people alerted to the reality of "the road" which is why they are studiously preparing (instead of partying).

Of course those who end up stuck in those situations try and do whatever they can to improve their lifestyle.

Only the rich people or the upper middle class can afford somewhat a bit decent lifestyle. A large part of Americans are sleeping in their car with no teeths and many diseases haunting them.

So outside the classical poverty and homelessness we see in the USA there is also a ''hidden homeless'' problem where a part of the society has a job but still lacks basic facilities in order to live a normal life. What a patriot you are. Continue to shove your problems under the rug.. will do the world a great favor though.
